About Me

My names are raphael kimani from central province in limuru town kiambu district, am a third born member of a family of five,my parents mr and mrs kimani are small scale farmers.
I went to limuru day primary school and ngenia high school then I graduated from kamirithu polythecnic with a certificate in plumbing .
After school getting employment has been so hard for me so I decided to join my parents in farming ,My father has two acres of land where he grows maize and potatoes , I have a acre of land which was given to me by my late grandfather where I plant maize and potatoes too, being a farmer has ena led me build a small house where I live in and also surport my siblings with basic needs, harvesting of maize is done once a year which I find it unprofitable compared to crops which takes 3 months to be harvested.
I would wish to have a irrigation tank so to do farming of crops that takes 3months to be harvested.
my siblings would like to be farmers too so am thinking of working extra hard to add a piece of land in future.
I love driving swiming and facebooking.

My Business

My business is farming I do plant maize seasonaly and after a good harvest I get 16 sacks of maize , I dont sell the maize imediately after harvest because prices are usualy low so after harvest I store my maize for about a month or two after I sell at better prices , markets are alwas ready especial when most people have sold their maize demand goes up and prices rise.
I spend 9500 ksh on farm inputs and do the land preparation myself to ease the cost,
after harvesting.
I sell a bag at 2300 to 2500 shillings ,making a average of 35000 shillings,
After expense deductions I get a profit of 20000ksh.
this money I use to buy farm inputs, surport my family and cater for my needs.
