About Me

To start with, I am a Kenyan citizen and married with one wife and together we have been blessed with three children, two girls and one boy boy. I hail from a small village in Kisii County Called Buyonge, which is about 10kms from my nearest town Ogembo and which is Gucha District's head quarters. Before i started business, i taught in various private colleges in Kisii town which could not satisfy my needs. I therefore got interested in starting a business which i did in 2012. At least the business is now meeting most of my needs although needs are never satisfied. Wherever i get earnings from the business i ensure that i add something in my business i.e computer or printer or accessories related to computers. During my free time time i like staying at home with my family since most of the time am out for business. My objective in this business is to become an employer to reduce employment gap among the youths and also help the vulnerable group in society like the poor,disabled, youths and women.

My Business

This is my Second loan which am going use to to make my business even better. Being a business person the loan from zidisha will be re-payed through the same, i deal with computer services which includes photocopying, typesetting and repair and maintenance of computers. ICT is the driver of any economy of the world, therefore, these services are needed by every one and those in the market have not satisfied the needs. I will use the loan from zidisha to expand my business so that i can install a full operating cyber which has high demand in Kisii town. As much as this amount may not be enough to complete my target, it will play a big role for the remaining amount may be accessed from other sources. Thanks

Loan Proposal

I use this loan to do two things 1) Purchase a digital camera at the cost of 15,200/=($169), I need this because being near a higher learning institution, students need passport photos for their registration process as students and this is an opportunity for more business. 2) I need to make shelve for display of my accessories in the shop. Materials are: 3 broke boards @ 3200/=(9600/=($107),1kg of nails (2") @ 240/=($3),500g gkue @ 250/=($3) and labour @ 1200/=($13). Thanks for this wonderful institution.

    I wish to begin by registering my apology for the delayed repayment which prompted you to contact my referees, I am again sorry that this had to happen. In fact,as soon as i received the loan from my lender and I wasn't able to instantly appreciate the same, i something i am not happy about. The reason why this happened is sad one although i didn't come back and and do something about in my account, I lost my keen as soon as i received the loan and i was so much overpowered by the sorrows of loosing a loved one. This made me not to achieve my goal of adding some few staff to my business. Despite all this i've returned to my premises and hopes to pick from where I stopped and proceed with the good spirit i had right from the on set. This why I wish to reduce my repayment so as i can manage repayment given that my time is also lapsing. Thank you for your continued reminder and the good intentions you have for growing entrepreneurs. God bless.

    I am very grateful for Zidisha members especially those who put a hand in supporting me through this micro-finance, I thank God for giving me business partners far away from home but too close to me through technology. My Sincere thanks goes to Marcel (Germany), Serene (Philadelphia, united States) and Ellwood (Wimborne-United Kingdom). Through the loan I received from you, I have been able to purchase a router which will supplement the wireless modem once I get connected to a telephone line to supply me with better network, and later put up the other necessary gadgets required for me to use at least 6 computers in my cyber cafe. I will be faithful with your money to ensure that I utilize my potential in business. I promise, I will not disappoint you but instead progress so as others will also know that Zidisha is there for everyone. Thank you and God bless.

    Thank you shalabh for your concern and good advice. To start with, I want to be grateful for the Zidisha team and business advice given here especially from you. Now, to your concern Shalabh, I already have five computers to start up the cyber business, so for computers I think i've enough. Secondly, about the cost of a router; you are completely right that it costs less than 50 USD, unfortunately I generalized all expenses for the business under one name "router" here is the break down of the expenses of the items according to Orange Kenya ltd:
    Livebox =3,990.00(46 USD).
    Recharge card=3,000(35.5 USD).
    Deposit=2,300(26 USD).
    Total =9,290.00(107 USD).
    Other Charges
    Cable 20mtr x 30= 600 (6.9 USD)
    Protection Line = 1200(14 USD)
    Line jack=250(3USD)
    Phone=1500(17.2 USD).
    All this amount in Total will be approximately 12,840/=(148 USD).
    Hope Hope you question is answered.
    Thank you So Much again
    Invoice is attached here

      Thanks for replying Walter,

      Glad to see your business prosper.

      I am actually from India. We had the same situation about 10 years ago. Internet Cafes were very popular back then. But with Smartphones and lower price of Computers, students can now buy their own.

      Our startup is developing a low cost computer (less than 100 USD). And we are eagerly looking to partner with internet cafes worldwide. The PC will have very low power consumption (about 1 / 10 of current PCs) and will be Virus-Free.

      I would love to know more about your requirements and challenges and how can I make the best device for you. Do contact me on stdps1080[at]gmail.com if you are interested.

      Wishing you best brother,
      Shalabh

    Hi Walter,

    It is great to see your dedication towards your work.

    I was wondering about the router which you intend to purchase. As far as I know, most routers (home and small office) cost less than 50 USD and work well. Have a look at Amazon.com and check the prices of routers. Are you looking to set up a WiFi ?

    For 150 USD, you can easily buy a computer. Investing so much amount in router doesn't make much sense from a business perspective, atleast according to me.

    Just looking to help you buy the best equipment from your money.

    If you have any doubts, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
    Shalabh
