About Me

I was born in Busia in the western part of Kenya. I am the first born in a family of seven. I grew up and went to school in Busia. Being the first born in a family of seven has always been very challenging. My father passed on when I was in high school and that left my mother to take care of us. I was at times forced to skip class so that I could accompany her in her casual jobs so that we could get food on the table.

Having gone through this, I got the motivation to get into business so that I could support my family. After high school, I got employed as a cyber cafe assistant, a position that I held for two years. As I was working at the cyber, I saved [money] with a lot of discipline because I had developed the urge to open my own cyber cafe. After the two years of service, I had saved enough to help me buy five computers, with which I set up a small cyber cafe that has been growing gradually.

I'm married with two kids (twins) aged three.

I love watching football, swimming, and spending time with the less fortunate in society.

My Business

I started my cyber cafe in February 2013 with five computers. I offer internet services, typesetting and printing. Internet connectivity has over time become necessary in many day-to-day activities. This has pushed the demand for my services high, hence the need to increase my capacity in terms of computers in the cyber.

I have one assistant whom I pay 8,000 KES ($80 USD) per month. I pay rent of 4,000 KES ($40 USD). On average, I make a profit of 33,000 KES per month ($325 USD).

I distribute my earnings towards supporting my mum in paying school fees for my siblings, buying food and other necessities at home. I reserve some savings that I always use to improve my business.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders.
Im reaching out for your support to help facilitate the purchase of another computer for my cyber cafe.
My current capacity in the cyber is often overwhelmed there by making clients to queu and wait until another client is through with the computer. this has in many occassion made some customer to walk away to look for altenatives somewhere esle.
I have lost many customer because of this and i really pray that you support me to gradually increase my capacity.

I have seen my friends who joined zidisha growing and doing fine in their businesses and when i got the chance to be invited, i was so happy and am looking forward with anticipation to grow with zidisha.

Thank you in advance
Gabriel

My wife sickness slightly affected my last two installments but I thank you lenders for the option of reducing the installment to amount one can be able to pay. It was easier for me to pay the amount I had than skipping repayment day.

As I have planned for my budget, I will use this loan to buy two computers to add on the inadequate number of computers I initially have in my cyber cafe. This will bring much contributions to my profit, since inadequate my cyber will have adequate computers to serve my customers.
I once more thank you lenders for your good job. The first loan you gave me really helped my business. I noted a great increase in profit than before. I still need your support and I hope you will forever have that faith. Thank you.
