My name is Annette Tanui a mother of two. I was in Baringo county and during my school days I loved art a lot which led be to advancing my skills in weaving mats and baskets. i do make mats as a way of living and encouraging other women they can learn and make it in life.Life is about trusting in God and living your dreams i believe all that is true as we follow our hearts as the Lord guides us.I believe in starting small and raising up through encouraging each other as we learn new things too.
My business deals with weaving mats and baskets. I also make potato crisps which I package and sell whole sale to retail shops. I started my business in 2010 because of the challenges of raising two children and yet i was single. My biggest challenge in this business is lack of enough money to purchase materials so that i can expand. Most of my customers for my art and craft business are women who purchase mats and baskets and also embroidered clothes. In a good month I make profits of upto $ 180 which I use to buy materials and the rest cater for my family needs including paying school fees for my children.
My goals are to set new designs for the embroidery industry and to expand the business. Currently i work where i live and i hope to one day rent a separate building to house my business. I am proud of my business because it makes me meet new people every day.
I will spend this loan to purchase more weaving materials for my mat and basketry business. I will also purchase more knitting and embroidery materials. I will spend $100 on weaving materials and $50 on embroidery. The purchases will enable me to make more products and thus increase my sale. This will expand my business and make it more sustainable and profitable. I expect my standard of living to improve too as a result of this loan
