I'm Theophilus Ackom a 26 year old Physiotherapist and graduated from the University of Ghana. With the help of Zidisha two years ago i was able to finance my school fees and also my thesis that lead to a successful graduation process. Currently a working physiotherapist and doing my possible best to give back to the community as Zidisha has always given to me.
As a member of the fast growing clinic and the first of a kind in Ghana that offers mobile physiotherapy to clients at the comfort of their home. JessDan Mobile Physiotherapy Clinic seeks to provide good and quality mobile physiotherapy services for our loyal clients. With the increasing rate of burden of carrying a disabled or impaired patient to the clinic and also the stress of being in long queue at the hospital. My team and I provide great and quality physiotherapy services to clients at their homes. Seeking to release burden on patients and on the limited health facilities available in my country being a developing country.
Recently, as a requirement for my field of study, I had to write a thesis and my choice of topic as a student physiotherpist and owing to the increasing incidence of non-communicable disease, was to access the rate of physical inactivity among people in my community since its a major contributing factor to NCD's and to my surprise the result tends out a lot of individuals did not meet the recommended requirement.Hence a decision by me and my colleges to embark on a physical training exercise and education about non-communicable disease in the community.
The first meeting was a success and below is a picture of a session. But during the screening process equipment needed for the program was out of reach and the few ones that were available were not enough for the number of people that attended.I seek to use this loan to purchase health equipment for compliment my health project and believe it would be a great one and would help a lot of people with time.
This equipment include;
A body composition monitor
Stadiometer
Blood Pressure (BP) Monitor
For now this are the basic equipment that would be required to at least be able to take the average BMI and weight of individual hence be informed of the kind of condition their values put them into.
With the help this loan, I would be able to purchase the above mentioned equipment.
Prices of Equipment;
Seca 213 Portable Stadiometer Height-Rod = $ 216.37 (856.83 GHC)
Omron Body Composition Monitor with Scale - 7 Fitness Indicators & 180-Day Memory = $ 77.47 (306.78 GHC) X 2
= $154.94 (613.56 GHC)
Omron Blood Pressure Monitor = $55.6 (220.18 GHC) X 3
= $433.68 (433.68 GHC)
The rest of the money would be put into organisation of the programs.
Following the great success and impact of the first campaign, and also with the availability of this equipment I hope to impact a lot life and as a project.
The sign up fee for each member = $ 5.05 (20 GHC).
And with a reporting number of 50 people in the first community.
= $5.05 X 10 (at least) in week
= $50.5 (196.95 GHC)
