About Me

I grew up in Nakuru county in Rift valley region.
Life in the rural area is never easy because one has to survive with what you have and you cannot question our parents. My parents were not well off so even studying was a problem so as girls we had to stay home and let our brothers go to school.
This made me sad so i used to steal my brothers books to read and eventually when i got the chance to study in my adult life i did it to the best of my ability.i am now married and blessed with 4 children .
Having grown up in a non formal settlement,i learnt alot of skills like plaiting, hand weaving and cookery.
I am also married in a place where most women depend on the men to provide for their families so i decided together with my daughter Peninah to start up a group which teaches young and old women how to do cookery, hand weaving among other things that can help generate cash to help them in their houses. My dream is to have all women depend on themselves and be able to still maintain their families incase they are widowed or in the absence of the husband.

My Business

My business deals with making of mats, making baskets and necklaces using beads. i decided to start the business in the year 2012 after visiting Bomas of Kenya. I found their designs being more beautiful and i decided to venture into the business. The biggest challenge that i face is lack of funds to purchase materials and to employ one attendant. My main customers are women and men who buy for their wives as gifts. My goals for this business is to expand it to an extent of employing of workers who will assist me in the business. I love the business since it has helped me to cater for nearly all the needs in the family.
In a month i make profits of upto $ 180 which i use to educate my children and expand the business more
I am mostly proud that i have taken my children up to seecondary level with the little that i get and i have managed to empower more women and they are doing the same to their fellow women.

Loan Proposal

I am going to use this loan to buy materials to make more stock of baskets and mats from Nakuru where the prices are cheap. This will cost me $ 200
This will help in boosting the business profitability because i will be able to make a great sale of the products.
The increased profits will help me in stabilizing the business and also in providing for my family
