About Me

I am Cheruiyot Anthony, 26 years of age, a humble, hardworking and determined person. I live in Nakuru County of Riftvalley Province, Kenya. The place is one of the major growers of cerials and livestock production. I am the third bone of a humble family of six, five sons and one daughter. I was raised in the country side where I started my schooling from kindergarten up to form four in the year 2007. My parents are peasant farmers and though I passed well in my final Primary Exams (KCPE) I did not get enough funds to go to a High School. I therefore attended a local day secondary school where I managed to get a B- (Minus) in the Final exam (KCSE). I then did a certificate in Computer Applications in a local college. I then started searching for a job but did not succeed. I then decided to venture into Computers Services as a business. I started my business in the year 2009 through the help of my parents. I render all computer services ranging from typesetting and printing, photocopying, scanning, lamination, internet services, photo processing and printing. I registered my business with the local County council hence my business is valid and recognized. I use the earnings from this business to boost my parents financial status in educating the rest of my siblings and to expand my business.

My Business

I operate a computer services and phone accessories shop. I started the business in the year 2009 after I had been looking for a job in Computer Application without success. I eventually identified an opportunity in offering computer services in the outskirts of Nakuru Town near a college and some primary schools and a University Campus. There was a need for services such as typesetting and printing, photocopying, scanning, lamination, photo processing as well as phone accessories in the area. This was, to a great extend, influenced by the number of Institutions mentioned above. Though there were some other business people offering the same products and services, their deliverance for the same was not satisfactory and could not accommodate the customers’ needs. Since I started this business, I have gained a good reputation from the efficiency and quality of services that I deliver to the customers. The business is registered with the local municipal Council of Nakuru hence my business operations is valid.
The first loan that i got from Zidisha went a long way in setting up the business and since then, my business has been doing very good. I have managed to employ two staff and they have really helped in all my business operations. apart from the services and products mentioned above, I have also ventured in outdoor photography where we are invited to ceremonies like weddings, parties, graduations etc. we then process the photos and this gives us a good income. The only challenge we are facing at the moment is getting a quality camera, at least one or two, since the one we are using has developed some technical problems. I therefore look forward to kindly applying for another loan to help me in getting the same and improving my business. Thank you very much.

Loan Proposal

Hello Zidisha?
Am so much grateful for the first loan you gave me, and I must confess that it has really helped me a lot. My business has so far been a success, having got a secure and strategic position for my services. I have also managed to employ two staff to help me in my operations.
it was after a small business survey that I did when I realized that I could try photography apart from my computer services. So far the same has gone well despite some few setbacks. We get invitations from such ceremonies as weddings, parties, graduations etc where we shoot good quality photos and from the same we get a good income. One of my employees goes to the field and perform the shoots while we concentrate with other services with the other employee.
On average I get a gross income of Kshs 32,000 (360 USD) After paying all the bills and salary for my two employees I get a net income of about Kshs 15,000 (169 USD).
The only challenge I have faced currently is lack of a good camera. If only i could get a good quality camera then I shall be very grateful and the business will surely improve to greater heights. I therefore hereby humbly request for another loan of 300 USD to help me purchase a new digital camera. I look forward to your generous response. Thank you very much and May God Bless You All.

With profound respect.
Anthony
