About Me

I am 56 years of age living in Rongai town which is in Nakuru county in Rift Valley province. I joined my first school in 1968 and sat for my primary education certificate in 1974. I continued with the secondary level from 1975 – 1978. After the school I joined the other Kenyans finding job to be employed but only casual laboure until when I decided to be trained in order to help farmers in pountry area where I do vaccinate their birds.Currently I have switched to a new business of bricks works.
I am married with 7 children, 2girls and 5boys and do live in Rongai town.

My Business

I have experienced that the poultry business incomes does not sustain me to service a given loan.Am practicing a new, unique and innovative business of making bricks with soil.I started by building my brick house and community wants such bricks, but I cant coup with demand when hand made bricks.I need a manual improved interlocking bricks machine. I visited an engineer in Nairobi and agreed he would make one for me at ksh 65,000($747)if I make interlocking bricks, buyers will cut of cement cost by about 79%!Demand will rise. That will only be met with the machine.Already there are several customers who have declared interest in buying bricks.

Loan Proposal

I will use the loan to purchase an interlocking brick machine that costs 722 US Dolllars.Though the maximum loan am eligible to receive is below the price I will add the rest to ensure I get the machine that hopefully will make my work more profitable, attractive and fast.I estimate a raise of net profit by greater than 100%currently Am making bricks barely with my hands. The process is slow and tasky plus the fact that I have to burn the bricks at the end of the process. However, with the said machine I will even employ about 4 people to produce enough to meet the demand and no burning of bricks since the machine will compress the bricks to harden.Only in addition shall I add red colouring to make the bricks pretty good.Another advantage of machine is that the product bricks shall be smooth with 100% measure.,

Hi lenders. I managed to talk to John today in the afternoon. His area is still facing drought. His project has still stalled a bit but by March his hopeful business will have picked and he will be able to catch up on his repayments.

Hi. I'm Ian Mwangi and John's mentor. I managed to talk to him this morning. His area of Rongai is currently hit by heavy drought and it has impacted his business negatively and slowed his project considerably. He'll be waiting for a change in climate to continue his project but is upbeat once the drought is over he can continue with his project and will be able to catch up on his loan repayments.

Thanks Leonardia for your concern.I will inform you next week when I receive the machine and possibly post a photo of it.Procurement is in process. The kind of machine is being assembled here in Nairobi and one has to order and wait for 2 to 3 weeks to receive.Ready made are from china and are 10 times damp expensive I couldn't afford.Best regards,
      John

Dear John, I serve as a VM (I am not your VM though) and I will try to answer you to best of my knowledge. This is a newly introduced feature which enables your lenders and any other other person who would like to know about your activities at Zidisha. They get alerts any time you post something on your page. In short it is to your advantage to have this feature because it makes it easy for you to communicate with those who are interested in knowing what you are doing.
