I am a 5th born in a family of seven children. My parents are peasant farmers. They depend largely on casual labor to earn a living. My childhood was difficult but luckily my parents were able to see me through primary and secondary school. After secondary school i enrolled for a purchase and supplies course. After completion of course I worked as a procurement officer for a local animal feeds supplier. Though the earnings were very low and i struggled a lot, this bore my desire to own my own business. My dream was to start a grocery shop and i was determined to make it. Over the years I have learnt that, to overcome hardship, you need to be persistent and believe in yourself. Currently i have my own grocery and stationery shop. I have 2 children and they are quite ambitious. My first born daughter wants to be a doctor. My second born wants to be a pilot. During my free time i love travelling and taking my children to see places.
I run a grocery and stationery shop. I majorly stock vegetables and fruits which have a high demand in my area. I also have stocked some stationery since my business is near a school.I have 1 casual labourer.I chose this business because I live in a highly populated area and thus demand for vegetables and fruits is high. I also am passionate about this kind of business. It makes me feel fulfilled. My typical costs include; utility bills, rent, purchases and wages. My main revenue stream is the sales I make from the business. I use the profits that I make to meet my bills, pay school fees and also improve my living standards.
With the funds raised,I will purchase fruits and vegetables to add to my stock. This will help me meet demand and serve more customers.
