I am a rural girl, having been born in the Machakos region of Kenya. I, however, currently reside in the bustling capital city of Nairobi where I am employed. I am married with two lovely boys. In my current post, I am a logistics officer for a beverages company, but on my off days I enjoy doing things with my hands and spending time with my family. I also enjoy the outdoors and love to travel when time allows.
I have dabbled in the making of custom, home-made carpets in the past with some measure of success. I have recently decided to shift focus to the making and selling of snacks. I have long had a passion for cooking. I enjoy trying out new recipes to cook meals for my family in my free time. I have also catered for my friends' parties in the past and received good feedback on the quality of food served. I intend to put these talents to good use in my new venture.
I live next to a road with quite a high volume of foot traffic having several school and a church in the neighborhood as well as a lot of residential rental apartments. I have long considered putting my culinary skills to business use by opening up an outlet for snacks and fast foods. This year, i decided to actualize this dream. I have rented space in small shop next to where i live and procured some cooking equipment and food display case. I intend to start out selling potato fries and pan fried pack potatoes and expand gradually into flour-based snacks as business picks up. With this loan, i intend to purchase a sack of potatoes, cooking oil, flour and some cooking equipment that is still pending. I intend to start the business officially by mid-january.
