About Me

my name is Salvey Mutwiri Njagi. I was born 36 years ago in central Kenya on the eastern part of Mt Kenya, in a town called chogoria. I was born out of wedlock where I grew up with my mom up to four years, then she took me to live with my paternal grand parents. since my mom was poor it is my grand parents who educated me up to secondary level. I was not able to proceed from here and life became abit challenging because I had to look for ways of providing for my livelihood.ihad to work in people's farms so that I can get something little for my upkeep . I thank God because someone brought an idea to me and helped me realize it.

My Business

after failing to proceed with education, a friend introduced me to tours, where I began as a Porter, carrying luggage for tourists who came to tour Mt Kenya. sometimes it was quite tough but my heart urged me to press on harder and I thank God I was able to make it many times. I cooperated with our guides well because I wanted to learn more about this tourism business. soon afterwards I was able to organize small local groups and take them to the mountain, all by myself. this helped me to sharpen my skill. thereafter some guides used to give me daytrips, to take their tourists for mountain picnics that lasted one day. I still do this job even now and I really love this job. it provides for my son's school fees, feed my family and their general upkeep. because tourism business is seasonal, other times am at my small farm where I farm for my family's food and a few sash crops because the land is small.

Loan Proposal

as I explained above, I work with tours in Mt Kenya. having began from a very poor background, I require a lot of equipment for this job to help me succeed. in the mountains the weather is sometimes so tough and when there, one requires warm gear, tents stoves, cameras, torches and lights. I have several of these. I was able to buy some from my little earnings and others I was given by tourists who are happy for my services. I require monies to buy most of equipment. as of now I require a sleeping bag that goes for 15dollars, a tent for 50dollars, a stove for 40dollars and sources of lights for about 20 dollars
