I was born in Kenya in the county of Muranga in the year 1987. I went to Nyakihai primary school and Nyakihai secondary school. I joined thereafter a college at Bridge to study hotel management and computer studies. After college i went back home where i realized there was potential in the leather industry. I started sourcing for raw hides and skins where i started by buying 2 pieces from my small saving then sell to brokers who eventually sold them to Tanneries outside our county.
As time went by, i increased my purchases to a level i required more investment considering the readily available market now with few players.
I later moved to Nairobi to be able to find ways of selling raw hides and skins direct to tanneries other than passing through brokers. To date i buy from various slaughter houses in Nairobi and sell to tanneries.
During my free time, i like singing. I have a talent in music, and so prefer to write and practice songs that are aimed at empowering economically the youths living in especially low income areas of Nairobi city.
I personally own the current business and part of my incomes goes to expansion of my business. Very few people are into raw hides and skins and so i could like to take the advantage to invest much on it. At the moment i have my royal customers and am quite sure my business will grow in future. If i am given loan, no doubt i will be able to repay from my dairy sales.
My customers prefer my services because i never fail them and i always supply them in good time and the right quantity required.
1 raw hide of 15kgs costs at 9USD and sells at 17USD. After removing transportation i make a profit of 4USD.
My loan as requested will assist me be able to purchase wetting agent to treat raw hides and skins that will attract customers who buy for onward tanning process.
The Budget:
1. Wetting agent @ 200 Kenya Shillings per 1kg.
20Kgs x 200 Kenya Shillings = 4,000 Kenya Shillings.
2. Transport @ 300 Kenya shillings
TOTAL = 4,300 Kenya Shillings.
