About Me

I am Kwaku Duah, a hardworking and determined young gentleman. I was born in Accra, but I hail from Ejisu in the Ashanti region. I had my pre-school education at New Generation School at Teshie Nungia Estates, and later continued to have my Primary and JHS education at Morning Star School, at Cantonments. With the spirit of hard work and zeal, i passed my BECE with flying colors, and gained admission to Prempeh College to have my High School or Secondary Education. I offered the business option which included Accounting, Economics, Business Management among others. Later in my final year, the unfortunate happened. The breadwinner of my family passed away, making life very tough for me since i had noo one to depend on. After completing, it was very difficult for me, since there was noo one to support, but I was ready to overcome those hardships. I took up some menial jobs and was able to save up something to set-up a store. I started my own 'provision mart' with just a few stock, and i have been able to manage and grow it into a bigger mart. During my free periods, i like to cycle a lot, and also read productive novels. One unique culture about the community where i live is that, the people are very united and live like siblings. They always come together to find solutions to problems each of us face individually, and render support to members who need some form of support.

My Business

My shop is a 'Provision Shop' as people affectionately call it. I deal in basic home food items and 'necessities' such as Milo, Water, Bread, Sugar, Soft drinks, biscuits, milk, etc. The goods are termed as 'necessary goods' because they are items people cant do away with in our daily lives. Therefore their demand is very high. I choose this kind of business because, i realized that in my community, there was no such shop around, and so people had to buy all those stuffs from their workplaces and town, before coming home. My typical cost which included my start-up capital and other expenses was over GHc 2,000. But my average net profit on a daily basis is Ghc 150. I use the profits for re-investment into the business and investing into other profitable ventures.

Loan Proposal

I intend to use this loan to repair a spoilt refrigerator at my mart, which has been dormant for some time now. As a result of its breakdown, my daily sales has declined. An estimated cost drawn by the repairer was about $10. When this fridge is repaired, it will increase my daily sales, thereby increasing my net daily profit
