About Me

My name is Veronica Kwaku, born to Mr Bright Kwaku and Madam Ernestine Ago. i live at Prampram, a city residence located in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. I started my basic education in Tema in the year 1996 and completed in the year 2002. after that I entered into apprenticeship of hair dressing for period of three years. From there I worked at a guest house in Prampram for six months; then I proceeded to work as a Receptionist at a textile company in Tema for a period two years. Later I started working on my own as a business woman who deals in second hands cloths .

My Business

My dream is to expand my second hand clothing business and later open a cosmetics shop.
I have a new container that I plan to use in the future. Currently I have rented a piece of land at a vantage point near the Mandela Road and have have temporarily installed a small shop made of wood. This is where I do business for now. I have being operating this second shop for four month now and it is doing quit well.

I would like to use the zidisha loan to replenish my stock and in the future replace the wooden and include sales of cosmetics.

My source of income in this business will be used to repay the loan.

Loan Proposal

I would like to use this loan to replenish my second-hand clothing shop. I would buy the loan's amount of second-hand clothing. I have been selling female clothing all this while. This time, however, I would include the male's line of clothing for the first time. I am encouraged by the steady growth in sales so I feel confident that I would be able repay this loan on time.

    Dear Lenders,

I visited Prampram last week and was happily able to meet Veronica at her small clothing boutique. Veronica sells second-hand clothes from a small blue container on the roadside. She bought the container last year and decorated it herself with a light blue scheme that makes her store a cheerful island in the middle of Tema’s hot sand.

Veronica goes twice a week to Accra to search through the markets for acceptable clothing to sell. Sometimes she is looking to buy specific trends and sometimes she is looking to buy for specific customers in Prampram but her number one priority is always quality. If an item isn’t high quality, it isn’t likely to last very long through sweat and dust and still look good - sometimes Veronica returns from a shop with only one or two good finds. But that means that her customers can trust her selection.

She grew up in Tema, a highly industrial city on the way to the capital, as the oldest of three daughters. Knowing she has always been interested in fashion, I ask jokingly, “Did you often dress them up?” She laughs, “I still do.” Although now she has moved away, she prefers living in Prampram: close to her family in Tema and to the markets in Accra but quieter than both and a market with a demand for her goods.

Veronica has used Zidisha loans to purchase extra stock of high quality second-hand clothes in the markets to resell in her boutique - a big help when it’s hard to gather the capital to make big purchases. Although she does not live with constant access to a computer or the internet, she wants her lenders to know that she is incredibly thankful for the opportunities that have been afforded her by Zidisha. She hopes to use future loans to expand her offerings and add men’s clothes and perfumes and is excited to grow her relationship with her lenders.

Veronica – it was a treat to get to visit your boutique and talk to you last week. I hope I can see you soon again in Prampram!

    Thank you,

    Taylor

    hi lenders,
the current loan has being very helpful. Currently my business as received an important boost. I moved my new container to a neighboring town, where I expect to get twice as much business. I cant wait to get started there. Because in the former location I got less than my sale potential!

    Hi all,
This is a photo update of me at my shop. As you can see I am doing quite well!
Only, I did not add the male's line of clothing yet, but I hope to do so, after this loan session.

    Hi Veronica,
I wish you the best in your clothing shop. I hope you are able to increase your female clothing and perhaps even expand into male clothing as well.
