I am a 20 year old born again christian lady.I am a student at Kenyatta University per-suing Bachelor of Education.I am hardworking, ambitious and down to earth.I am the third born in a family of 9,I have 5 siblings who are still in school. My dad is a peasant farmer and my mother a housewife. We struggle a lot to meet our needs especially school fees for my siblings and my university education. My elder brother cleared college and is yet to secure a source of income. We have often held fundraisers at home so as to raise our money.I have been wishing to get a source of income so that I assist my family.
I stay at Nyayo Hostels at the university.Outside our hostels at Kenyatta market,I run a grocery shop.I sell fruits and vegetables to the nearby fellow tenants.I have ran this business for the past 3 months.I sell sukuma wiki and cabbage which moves so fast especially lunch time and supper.I also sell few fruits since I dont have enough capital.I use a temporary shelter made of of polythene bags as my shop. The business has been running smoothly despite the challenges I get.I have been able to meet money for my daily use.
I collect my vegetables from Muthurwa market which is 1.2USD transport from my shop.I usually buy vegetables worth KSH 600 or 7USD per day and make around 2USD profit and in a week I make KSH 1000 OR 15USD a week.
I usually hire someone to work for me on a temporary basis when I am in school.I pay her ksh 50 or 0.6 USD a day.I look forward to getting more capital so that I can hire someone permanently.
challenges I get is capital that is inadequate and not having someone to work for me.The shelter I use gives me problems often since it is affected by adverse weather conditions such as heavy rains and scorching sun.
People prefer my vegetables since I get very fresh ones from the market,I am so keen on hygiene and I give them competitive rates to ward off competition
Thank you so much lenders for your unending support. My business has grown almost thrice since I joined the Zidisha family.
I will spend my next loan as follows; KSH10000/USD120 to buy more stock.I will buy more fruits and vegetables to meet the increased customer demands.I will stock fruits such as apples and mangoes that are not common in this area.
I will spend KSH5000/USD60 to buy a fruit-juice blender. This is due to the increased demand of fresh juice by the locals here.Converting fruits into juice will also increase my revenue.
I will spend KSH3000/USD35 to hire someone to help me run the business especially to prepare and sell the fruits and the juice. This will also help create a job opportunity.
Lenders kinndly help me reach my dreams again.
