About Me

I am an experienced Clinical Officer desiring to make a lasting positive impact on the clinical department its policies and procedures as well as build relationships and a team mindset.

When my clinical career started 8 years ago in campus, never would I have believed that today I would be designing and building a clinic in rural Kenya. My love for medicine began at a young age, at Sabatia Eye Hospital whilst getting treatment for my then 'myriad of issues' with my eye. Though some could argue taking of care of patients in a fully established institution with comprehensive amenities is much easier and less hectic than in a rural setup. So you can imagine my pure delight when this project became my baby.

Currently I work with a reputable Non governmental organization providing HIVAIDS, Tuberculosis and cervical cancer treatment to underserved communities.

My Business

I hoped to build the clinic in the early days of my career takeoff phase but as the project progressed and deadlines were nearing, I decided to postpone the clinic so it could be done right and given the loving attention it deserved. With everything going on I heaved a sigh of relief as it bought me time to do research and learn more about my new environment – a far cry from the big hospitals I had my clinical experience in. Remember, most of my experience came from working urban at state of the art institutions – I certainly needed to become educated in Bush Life 101.

I have visited clinics around the Mara and reached out to clinical and nursing colleagues who had experience setting up clinics around the globe. Some (handful) are run by NGO’s or missionaries to serve a local village, whilst others were operated by lodges or their foundations to care for the staff and surrounding community. I have researched what the most common ailments were? How were community members treated? What were the costs? What medications the government could subsidize? What the biggest challenges were to providing care? My list of questions was endless.

My mind raced and my dream took off faster than I could keep up. My grand scheme grew into a reality early this year with a consultation room (also functioning as a pharmacy), a lab for diagnostics, a small treatment room, conjoined with a holding ward( for short term reviews). I wanted to maximize my potential of what I could design and build since I had this amazing opportunity to start from scratch.

Project Proposal

I want to utilize the funds acquired to add to my inventory; medicine, diagnostic equipment and solar backup.
