About Me

Am Maurine murugi.I was born in the year 1982 .I am a mother of two and a single parent. I joined my primary school level in the year 1988 at muringa primary school and later in 1997 I sat for my final exam whereby I passed very well. In the year 1998, I joined muthaiti secondary school and later completed my secondary level whereby I managed to score a mean grade of c-. I received a lot of invitation from different education institution but due to financial constrains, I never managed to join any. I was later married in 2003 and after a going tough problems within my marriage ,I got my divorce in 2009.Having two babies looking upon me, I ventured myself into the “mtumba” business(second hand clothes)in the year 2010.Since then the business has been a source of income to me. My business has no specific location because we usually relocate our business depending on the market day place but within nakuru north county. I usually purchase my goods which are packed inform of bales. Each bale coast approximately twelve thousand but that depends on the quality of the good. After purchasing the goods, I latter sort them depending on the quality. The higher the quality, the higher the price. I have even gone to far markets outside our county like in Narok County whereby I visit the place once per month.

My Business

My business has no specific location because we usually relocate our business depending on the market day place but within nakuru north county, but I have permanent store whereby I store my goods when it’s not market days. The store is located at wanyorooro b shopping center. The market days are decided by the nakuru county council and each day is a working day but myself I never attends the Sundays because I have preserved this day for church and also a day to take up my stocks and to prepare myself for the busy weak. At the end of the month, I get about a total sale volume of about 60000ksh and a total of about 30000ksh of expenses thus getting a profit of 30000ksh in a good month (this figures are not actual but approximate due to fluctuation of prices and other factors). The earnings that I get from my business are used to pay the school fees to my kids and their daily upkeep and also day today operation of the business. My goods are preferred by my customers because they are of high quality and I also sell them at fair price. My customers also prefer my goods because there are no fixed prices everyone mentions his/her price and the negation of the price are brought about. This creates a good friendship with the customers. The main risk that my business faces is fluctuation of prices, high cost of transport, small storage facility for my goods and insufficient stock. If the business is well funded, I see myself prospering in life and to archive my aim to be a respected business woman.

Loan Proposal

First is to thank lenders for their enormous support in my business. My business deals in selling second hand clothes to various market where by we shift each and every day depending on the market day organized by the county government.currently i have relocated my business to Narok county. The main problem that we encounter in our business is accessibility to some market. place in the area due to bad roads, change of climate and remote places.Such markets where we are unable to reach,we never attend thus we end up losing that working day.To counter this, i ave decided to secure a room in Narok town near where i leave so that whenever am unable to go to this markets am able to sell my goods at this place.Through this i will able to to increase my sell and hence able to continue repaying my loan on time. Its my hope that lenders will find faith in me to continue funding me since i have a good record in repaying my loan.

    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am a Kenya Country Liaison Intern at Zidisha. Within this role, I am coordinating the Zidisha's MPESA team, responsible for processing loan repayments and disbursements.

Today, while reviewing our accounts, I noticed that the repayment of 11.90 USD (1,000 KES) posted on July, 31 in the repayment schedule of Ms Kariuki was entered by mistake. This means that, upon removal of the transaction, the amount that had been credited to your lender account will be reversed and will reduce your available balances accordingly.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. Please, let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Best regards,

    Roberta

I just wanted to inform the zidisha team of the effect that i encountered due to the mistake that the zidisha mpesa team has caused on my credit limit after my repayment schedule was entered by mistake.the last time i checked on my credit limit was over 21000ksh but after the mistake caused i am surprised to find that my credit limit has drooped significantly up to a value of less than 9000ksh.I have informed my volunteer mentor,mr tony njeru who is also shocked about the situation.Am also astonished because i have never failed to pay my loan on time so i dont see any reason of my credit limit dropping that so much.hope to hear from the zidisha team soon.
