I am Prince David Mensah, and a junior high school graduate. i have three siblings, all female. so i am the only male among the children of my parents.
Been the only male, i was trained to be a man very early in life. Then the most important virtue i was taught by my dad is hard work which has helped me very well over the years since in my Cocoa farming business if you don't like working hard and been innovative with the styles of the day, you will soon be thrown out of business because new methods and insecticides come everyday.
Right after junior high school, i decided to go into farming that instead since my parents were not financially sound. so i began working and i used the profits to help my parents to educate my sisters.
Today, when ever i visit them, i feel so proud of that decision i took since they are all high school graduates now. two will be going to college in September and for that matter i am working so hard so that i will be able to support them through my parents when the time comes.
I am into Agricbusiness, i cultivate food staffs but my much concentration is on cocoa farming. i cultivate the cocoa on large scale. Cocoa is in high demand in my country. I choose farming because i studied Agriculture in senior high school and the cost of beginning farming was so low that even with just some small implements i could start.
Now, farming, is very seasonal and for that matter, i deal in a lot of other goods like plantain, cassava, pepper, okro, yams, garden eggs which are daily food and widely demanded. for my cost and expenditure, i invest money but i make more than a 50% profit in the amounts i invest.
i save part of my savings, i invest part into buying seedlings for the next year and finally my parents and my siblings also take part for both their school fees and daily life.
When my beautiful project is fully funded, i will invest all the entire amount into my farming business. now these are the few things that i will buy to keep my farming going.
Watering cans for my newly sown seedlings (okro,Pepper, Garden eggs)...........$30
improved seedlings of the above vegetables...................................................................$80
Pesticides and insecticides.......................................................................................................$50
Fertilizers for my cocoa and my vegetables.......................................................................$90
This new things i will buy will help me get a better yield and there will be availability of enough food in my community.
Then with this new capital invested into my agribusiness, i expect that my profit margin will increase to about 45% than what i did had before. Now concerning repayments, i have lots of vegetables and cocoa ready for harvest and sale and for that matter that will help me keep up with repayments even before these new ones gets ready for harvest and ultimately sales.
