About Me

My name is Mary Serem, married to Peter Serem and a resident of Ogilgei village in the outskirts of Njoro town of Nakuru county. l am 28 years of old, second born in a family of seven and living with my family.
I was born in Kapsabet but moved to Njoro when I got married and this is where we have a small farm.
Due to financial challenges, I could not study beyond form four and life has not been easy.
We rely on the farm for food and any income.
I spend my free time visiting friends and family and watching TV.

My Business

I am a full time farmer and I produce mainly maize, vegetable and Irish potatoes, for sale and home consumption. Both maize and potatoes are staple foods in the area and therefore enjoy a good market.
We plant vegetable throughout the year while maize once in a year and potatoes three times in a year. The peak season for vegetable and potatoes is the one ending during the dry season when the competion is low due to dry season.
We are now planning to plant irish potatoes and vegetables

Loan Proposal

We recently harvested the maize and planning to tranplant cabbages as well as plant Irish potatoes. However, the month has been hard and therefore difficult to save for seeds and fertlizer. I am therefore applying for the loan to purchase ready sprout seeds and fertilizer for early planting.
I will therefore use all the $100 loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer.
Sale of vegetable already in the field will enable me pay the loan in time and the timely planting will allow me maintain my customers and even attract more with better prices.

    Greetings lenders,
I am very sorry for inconsistent repayments. I bought the inputs but could not plant till last week due to unreliable rains. My vegetables in the field have been doing very poorly too.
We now have rains and I believe everything will be alright.
    Thank you

    Hello to all lenders,
Thank you very much for the support through the loan you gave me. I bought the inputs and we are yet to plant. There was a slight delay with the long rains this season.
We will be planting as soon as we see the signs. For now i would like to reduce thee size of my installment for a few weeks then resume the earlier when things get better.
