About Me

I was born in Western Province, in Bungoma District, Bumula division, Kimatuni village. I was born in a family of seven, I being the first born. I started my education a little bit late because my parents were very poor they couldn't raise the required amount for school fees in time. My parents and I went to do casual jobs like harvesting maize for them to be paid for food and for my school fees. I joined Kimatuni primary school and after doing my standard eight, I was not able to continue with my secondary education due to lack of school fees. I dropped out of school and started doing house help job to assist my younger brothers and sisters to achieve education. From that struggle I decided to get married hoping that my life would change, the husband I married to was also searching for employment.

My Business

I continued doing the casual labour and I started saving the money that I got.The extra amount that I was saving ,I chose to rented a piece of land and started farming for short term crops like tomatoes, water melon, onions and others. So from the harvest that I got I sold them to the nearest market. I chose this kind of business because people consume every day and it has never lacked market and it is good for health. The costs are as follows ; digging $ 20, planting and top dressing fertilizers costs $ 72, planting seeds $ 20 and a shop at $ 50. The profit I get I do pay school fees for my children and for food and other basic needs.

Loan Proposal

Given the loan with the zidisha micro-lending team, I will purchase one sack of beans $ 112, and 50kg of planting fertilizer at $ 36. I will plant some of the beans with planting fertilizer and the remaining I will sell in small quantities to the community, this will save time and money of transport for the community to travel for long distance in search for them and for me, it will create a booming business because of this planting season.
