About Me

My name is Duncan Phiri, I am from Kitwe in Zambia . I did my primary education and later completed my secondary education at a boarding school in monze. I couldn’t go to college because of lack of funds. I worked in a barber shop for two months I was paid and I bought a shaving machine and started my own business. Besides that when I was at boarding school I was exposed to agriculture and that has become my main business now.

My Business

How I started my business was as a result of lacking financial support to go to college but I think I will be able to go one day. I run a barber shop where I have employed one young man and I also rent a small piece of land where I grow mainly fruits and tomatoes. People want to live healthy and fruits are on demand. I also buy fruits from other farmers in bulk then I sell at retail price at the market in kitwe. The major expense I face is transport charges and also fertilisers when growing my fruits.

Loan Proposal

I thank all lenders for my last loan. Am here to apply for another loan to enable me order locally grown fruits for sale. The prices of locally grown fruits in my town is generally good and the demand is very high. Apart from locally grown fruits like mango and guavas, I will also order wild fruits these they are bought like diamond and they include names in zambian local language such as masuku and imfungo. When am helped with this loan I will able to order at least 5X10kgs mango, guavas and any other fruits that I can find. I make profit which I save for college fees and I repay my loan .

Income Source

I raise money also from my barbershop where I have business everyday. So if my business of selling fruits faces any economic challenges I still have another way of making money. Again I believe even when there is economic crisis there is still demand for food and fruits. I will repay the loan and no excuses.
