About Me

I'm a husband and father of beautiful twin boys. I'm also the owner of African Center for Internet Marketing which is a leading internet marketing company in Kenya. You can find my personal blog at http://alexmaina.org. We are the first internet marketing company in Kenya and are proud to have introduced the concept to more than 100 individuals in Kenya alone.

I just love learning new things. I'm self taught in programming, web design and internet marketing. Right now I'm learning how to create organic fertilizer from earth worms. I'm trying to figure out how to set up a small home organic garden that produces quality food for my family and neighbors. Probably will have to teach my neighbors too when its successful. Thanks to Zidisha I introduced some 5 farmers in Kiambu to earthworm farming and you should see their success sometime next year when their worm farms have matured.

However, my main business is internet marketing and I live for it. Been doing it for close to 10 years and couldn't have been happier.

I love seeing change around me and change for good. That is probably why I joined Zidisha as it sounds like a very interesting concept and will use it as a case study to show others what can be done when you start small but have great ideas.

My Business

I provide internet marketing services to SEO companies worldwide. We earn our revenues through owning various blogs such as http://dumisha.com, nairobihost.com and others offering SEO services to larger SEO companies or to direct consumers, training and consultancy.

With the right partners I shall be able to achieve the dream of operating a full service internet marketing company with various authority websites in the African region.

I intend to use any loans to buy assets such as computers and also invest in good software to run the business more efficiently. This will allow me to employ more people and grow the business faster.

The current expenses are

1. Hosting Servers
2. Operating expenses such as rent and part time employees
3. Internet and others

These amount to an average of $1200 per month

Our revenues are currently at $2000 per month

As such we are currently able to service a loan which allows us to make long term asset buys.

Loan Proposal

Following the first loan I managed to sell the dumisha.com domain at a profit while still being able to introduce some farmers in Kiambu to the concept of using worms for organic manure. It was a success.

We also found out that a lot of entrepreneurs are extremely interested in marketing their products online. Unfortunately they don't know how and its too expensive. Our internet marketing training classes were also too expensive for them and at the same time, they couldn't get the opportunity to attend the classes while leaving their businesses unattended.

This loan is meant to solve the problem of access to quality information on marketing their products and services online. I'm setting up the first internet marketing class online in East and Central Africa. In our beta test we signed up 50 students all online and we believe we are ready to introduce this service online based on our history of providing such training on a person to person basis.

I'm asking my Zidisha partners for this loan to buy the software that's needed to realize this goal. We need $200 to complete the setup for launch on the 2nd of October. I believe that with this online setup it will allow us to reach thousands of entrepreneurs who can't make the journey to Nairobi and need to know exactly how to make a profitable business online without the huge costs associated with such training.

This is to say a firm THANK YOU for making my crazy dream come true. I remember informing you sometime last year that I'd take a short break from borrowing in order to concentrate on the business and cash flow aspects of my business.

It was good I did that because the two properties you helped develop have been doing quite well. From Alex maina I got invited to train some corporates such as Ketepa, computer pride, posta etc. And got my training dream on course.

I reacquired Dumisha after the buyer could not continue with it and now its doing well and we have hired a full time marketer for it.

I have to thank you very much for the trust you had in me even when I was late for a bit the last time.

I hope you have a great holiday and a wonderful new year.

      Thank you very much Ann

      I really appreciate that.

I was going to finish up my payment a few minutes ago. But it seems that there's a glitch with Mpesa....Maybe expected coz of the new year. So I have already overpaid and I hope Zidisha will refund. That I have no doubt about.

I really appreciate Zidisha and I'm glad for what it had done for me and my family.

      I borrowed for 2 projects.

The first one was Dumisha.com and the other one was Alexmaina.com

Maybe what I've learned is that internet sites are not as easy as they say in the text books.

I may not borrow again in the near future as I need first to get control of my cash flow. Otherwise I will end up disappointing my supporters as I may have seemed to have done.

I have a few ideas about zidisha and making it better. I'm also going to work to become a lender too.

But I'm happy that I had supporters like you Ann.

Please take a screenshot of Dumisha.com on the 31st of December 2014. Then look at it after every 2 weeks.

My prayer is that you see the difference you have made.

Happy holidays everyone and I hope Karma works as it should for all of us

      Alex

    Hello Alex,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having troubled times. But I'm glad to see that things are turning around and that you are getting back on track. I'm also happy to see you are committed to responsibly paying your loan back. Your repayments go directly into funding another entrepreneur so your actions have a ripple effect.

    Best wishes for success, Ann

      Thank you very much Ann

It was a very tough month but now things are getting back to normal.

The site is now in the final touches and it will be great. If things go as planned, will be launching this week.

Can't say how grateful I am for your patience and I will complete the payments as was originally scheduled even though I have a reschedule in place.

      Have a super day.

    Hi

As previously stated in my post, having a rather tough time at the moment businesswise as well as personally. From the beginning of this month, ther has been literrally no work done as I had to deal with family illnesses and only now are we coming back to normal. This was due to moving to a rather cold place from my previous house. But will make do with this for the time being before I clear the balance before the end of the period.

    Hello Everyone

As you can see I'm a bit late in repayments. This is because of a personal health issue I got and the project has stalled during this period.

I will get back on track with the loan next weekend 10/24/2014 as I'm now back on my feet. Thank you very much for being patient.

In other countries nutty means not a bad idea let me try. In our country and I'm speaking for most of the small startups you see here, it means, I can't finance you unless you are very rich.

There is on one here who's been financed who doesn't appreciate the $1 they are getting.

Your money goes a long way.

But your comment and your support goes even further.

Thanks again and I'm hoping to do a before and after on Wednesday. Then I'll to to the results.

Thank you again and trust me. Some things in life are paid back

Thank you very much for the support you gave with this first loan. It's amazing how when looking to do something, something better comes along.

My goal with this first loan was to start on the worm farm. We got it started alright. The best part is that I managed to get a few farmers in Kiambu who are willing to work with Dumisha on worm farming, organic farming and strawberry farming this month.

This means that we have to change our site focus to concentrate on the new products from these farmers. Hopefully this week we shall be able to complete the site design to include our new services to farmers especially with Greenhouse farming.

it was a great experience with Zidisha and thanks to all that supported us.

Had my kids suddenly get sick overnight and taking them to hospital discovered they had both got a serious case of chicken pox. I will have to reschedule this for next week as I take care of the kids this week. i have to pay for the doctors today so will need every penny I can get.

Obviously as soon as I'm finished with the hospital bill, I'll be able to get back on track which is same time next week.
