I was born in town in a family of six. I went to school in the same town for my primary school and secondary school education. I later joined college and pursued a course in fashion and design. The most memorable moment about my life is that my mother taught me entrepreneurship from a very early age of 10 years. My mother owned a small store in a village called Lanet and she made sure that I was able to collect cash payments and return change to customers whenever the customers bought at the store in Nakuru.
I was taught by my mother to keep time, avoid overspending, saving every coin I received as sales and, above all, to handle the customers in a good way. Today, I no longer live with my mother, but the business principles she taught me have made me who I am today as a businesswoman.
In addition to business, I also work as a design assistant at one of the top five designer companies in Nairobi called Occasions and Days. Today, I live in Nairobi with my husband and daughter. I also serve as a leader in my local church.
My Hair and Beauty Shop will be located in Kawangware and is targeted towards women, although it is planned to include services for men at a later date. My shop will be offering a wide variety of the latest oil products, hair protection and moisturizing conditioners, and shampoo products. Hair pins and pony tails are to be sold in my shop.
The local town Kawangware is an affluent area with over 5,000 housewives, mothers of school-age children and college-going youth. There are also many professional women working in the local business park that I am targeting. With the nearest equivalent business over 1 kilometer away and offering a more limited range of products and services, I believe this to be a solid investment opportunity.
I have realized there is an unfulfilled customer need for a low-cost shampoo & conditioner products store with quality products that provides maximum flexibility and strong customer attention.
At a cost of USD 29, I will rent a high-traffic store with a front location in Kawangware shopping center to drive people into the store. A display unit in the form of shelves fixed at the store will cost USD 10. I will buy: a dozen bottles of shampoo at a total wholesale price of USD 20, a dozen bottles of conditioners at a total wholesale price of USD 23, a dozen bottles of different types of hair oils at USD 38, and two dozen hair pieces at a total of USD 96. All of the above will cost my project USD 216.
However, I will be able to sell the dozen bottles of shampoo at a total price of USD 50, the dozen bottles of conditioners at a total price of USD 50, the dozen bottles of different types of hair oils at USD 80 and the two dozen hair pieces at a total of USD 200. My shop will sell all these products at a total price of USD 380. I will make a profit of USD 164.
After paying the rent, building the shelves and other expenses like transport and communication expenses, I will still have a net profit of USD 120 which I will use to buy more products.
Kindly fund my project and I will ensure I do my best and I know God will enable me to maintain my family. Thank you in advance dear Lenders.
