Hello,
I am Sam, a student as well a farmer. I am in the fourth year of my economics course, yet I ended up developing an interest in a field entirely unrelated to my course. This is farming particularly horticultural farming. I grow tomatoes in a green house. I developed this interest barely three years ago, started the greenhouse just to try it out and it became an instant success and I ended up becoming a part time student and a full time farmer. I make enough to pay for my education to maintain the greenhouse. I need the capital to increase the size and capacity of my greenhouse in order to improve profits and to take advantage of economies of scale.
My investment which is a greenhouse where I grow tomatoes measures 15 feet wide which is the standard, but from my research I have determined that I can almost double the amount of produce just by increasing the size of the greenhouse to 25 feet wide. There i a ready market for tomatoes in my region with the majority of my clientele coming from the numerous hotels and educational institutions in the region. Sales are very healthy with only a few people growing tomatoes in a greenhouse within the area. Most farmers prefer growing their tomatoes in an open farm which gives me a competitive edge since there i a big difference in the quality I produce and theirs. The only risk my business faces is the high operational cost which can only be countered by an increase in productivity which is easily achievable from your assistance. I make about Khs.150,000/ on average in a month with the costs totaling 100,000/ leaving me with 50,000/ profit. I want to double sales to Kshs.300,000 and to cut cost to around Kshs.150,000 which is possible only through expansion.
Thank you.
Since I am using the loan to finance the expansion of my greenhouse. I will use this first loan to purchase 20 Metres of film plastic along with the building materials, I already have the seedlings and enough pesticides to handle the increased capacity; with I purchased with last seasons' profits. I assume the entire process will take around a month, and I will start to harvest more tomatoes as soon as at the end of October.
