About Me

First, I would like to thank Zidisha creditors and all its stakeholders for providing an avenue that supports people from humble backgrounds. I was raised up in a humble background together with my five siblings,me being the firstborn. My parents are peasant farmers in one of the remote villages in Nyeri county. My siblings and I schooled with a lot of difficulties, always sent home for school fee. Having scored good marks at my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE), I was lucky to join an Nyeri High school ,catholic sponsored high school. Catholic paid high school tuition fee as my parents struggled to provide my boarding fee. At some point, my parents could no longer afford since we were five siblings in high school. Being among the top cream of the class, teachers, and my fellow students decided to fund raise my boarding fee. May God bless them wherever they are. At that very moment, my school mates used to wonder how do I find the courage to work hard. How do I get peace of mind yet I came from a low-income family. This questions arose a hidden potential in me, that personally I did not know I had, a heart to encourage those who have lost hope, and spirit to motivate people to work hard. Working hard to provide for my family and make the world a better place has been my dream since I was young. I managed to score an A-(78 points) in my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and joined a university to study Actuarial Science where I am currently. Being a government sponsored student, part of my university tuition fee is paid by the Kenyan government. I have been struggling to pay the remaining part, taking part-time jobs and sending several un-replied letters to well-wishers and soft loan providers.Due to this struggles as i a await to graduate, i went into the village and chose to venture into small scale farming and I firmly believe that Zidisha Org. will hear my cry and fund my project so that i can be able to clear my final semester school fees and also support my siblings.

My Business

My business entails small scale farming in local cash crops in the tropical highlands.
The crops here do very well with proper care and management.
Mainly my farming involves maize as its main food crop here for staple food and highly marketable. And now i am intending to rent an additional piece of land. Also
my crops are about one foot high, and the weather is threatening its productivity, and i think global warming is finally taking its effect.Especially pests are thriving very well in this warm weather. And due to this unforeseen predicaments i am in dire need of pilot financing in order to curb this menace and see to it that the productivity of my produce is maximized.I intend to use the funds to buy pesticides and herbicides, and also hire some laborers in order to accelerate the process of eradicating the problem and also rent an additional piece of land .Also the sun is really affecting our crops we as young farmers thus with financing i can install measures such as mulching and small improvised drip irrigation from a near by river. Also i have a kitchen garden where i have groceries that facilitate my travelling finances and market acquisition for the main crop which is now under threat. Please, am hoping Zidisha is to join me ; a young kenyan ,as we all join hands in fight of food crisis in Kenya and developing countries at large.Thank you,and God bless us all.

Loan Proposal

The loan will be used to do the following: Rent am additional one acre of land for $20 per quarter to plant short term vegetables . I have done extensive research and concluded that this opportunity is viable and with the help of zidisha I know i can grow to greater heights. Also purchase of herbicides for weed control for $15, purchase of pesticides 15 dollars and estimated, Labour cost of 20 dollars. Finally I would higher Agricultural Professions (Extension Officer) at a cost of 30 dollars (To examine products and advise appropriately). all these are xpected to improve yields by around 25%. Emergency funds $25 for unforeseen circumstances this will be from my own saving and the help of Zidiaha. Expected returns At least $500 (50000KES) after harvesting. I expect to repay my Weekly payments of $0.4 (400KES) --from sales of produce from mentioned kitchen garden(with total weekly return of $0.8). All the revenue after will be reinvested back to the business. I believe Zidisha will hear my cry and fund this project. With zidisha we can grow. Thank you for your time.
