About Me

Im domnic Obado aged 36yrs.male,leaved in kisumu kenya.have atained certivicate of secondary education, but went through hardship where by my mother use to pay my school fees through vending vegetables.business Im doing right now I started it by 2 lamps that I used to give my neighbour 1 lamp so that his children could read and do their homework at night. When the next neighbour so that light he approach me to give him the last lamp I remained with and pleaded with me,he even proposed that he will be giving me some little payment daily if I given out that lamp to his childern.I got it quite interesting and bought some 2 lamps after borrowing small money from my uncle, looked for some neigbours to give the lamps for a small fee but failed.tried the vegetable vendors and they took the lamps, right now there is demand for more lamps

My Business

I have some solar lanterns that I do take to local business vendors every sun-set for a small fee daily (hire basis),come every morning I do collect the lamps for recharge.the solar lanterns I have at the moment are still less because the demand is increasing.there is no electricity around the area,so I got much interest and try to make sure that every vendor has got some light.by getting something small I will be able to give my children better education, and to build a better house. Now thinking to get someone to help me distribuit and colleting the lamps everyday.

Loan Proposal

Hi zidisha members, thank you very much for you big support,Im requesting another loan.this loan is still going to expansion of my solar lamp business, this time round when given a loan I requested for,I will add 14 pcs of solar lamps.because one peice of solar lamp cost 20. USD.I will be very great full because you are making me grow in business.Im planning to get someone to help so I would give him something at the end of the day,at the same time we are trying to create clean and smokless environmet.I do expect an increase of 50% profit of what I get now. thank you once more.

I recently talked to Dominic, and he has not been able to make payments because his father passed on. He is willing to continue with his payments once he becomes financially stable.

    Hello Dominic,
I see that you're applying for another loan and would be glad to support you but I noticed that you plan to buy 20 lamps@$25 each. As the loan requested is $539 and you have to pay $151.16 into the Zidisha Members Loan Fund, how would this payment affect your plans?

    Hi Dominic,

    How are you doing?

Do you think there is a market for solar lamps for people's homes? Or to use when electricity is unreliable?

Dear lenders and entire Zidisha team,I had received the money that you sent to me but is unfortunate that I haven't purchase the lamps as I was suppose to.I have a challenge, world bank through Kenya power has initiated a project of lighting urban area with flood light on each and every electric pole in the market,so I have re-think on what to do and I won't give up. thank you.
