I was born in Wechiau, a farming community, in the Upper West region of Ghana. My parents were peasant farmers who were always glad to see me help them on the farm. I however, wanted to attend school in order to be respected like the teachers that were posted to teach there. With this motivation, I went to school and studied hard. I completed Junior Sec Sch (JSS) as the best student among my year group of 2000. I then attended the Lassia Tuolu Snr Sec Sch (SSS) on a parish scholarship. But for the scholarship, my education would have ended at the JSS level. Thanks to the scholarship board. By the time I completed SSS, I knew I wanted to be either a lawyer or a doctor. I did very well in the Snr Sec Sch Certificate Examination (SSSCE), with aggregate 12, on a scale of 6 - 24. I however, could not attend university due to lack of financial support. I decided to attend nursing school in order to benefit from the student allowances that government offered students to study nursing. As a result, the interest in medicine grew even more. In pursuit of this dream I applied to do medicine and have been accepted at the Donetsk National Medical University in Ukraine. The only thing that stand to stop me from achieving this dream is financial support. I want to serve as a motivation and an example to my two daughters that with motivation, determination, persistence, and patience they can achieve anything in their lives.
I am currently working with Finlandia Clinic in Denu, in the Volta region of Ghana. I work as a Nurse Practitioner. I have the blessing of management of the clinic to go on study leave with pay. They however, will not bear the full cost of tuition. Details of the study leave can be provided if need be.
To add some money and buy a quality stethoscope that enhance the quality of patient assessment. They are of various brands and of various qualities. Without a quality stethoscope some vital information can be missed when assessing certain systems like the respiratory system.
