My name is Chege Kahiga I live in Kitale Municipality in Trans nzoia county.I was brought up in Kericho district in a family of 7 siblings being the third born.Life was good until the age of eleven when it became very hard after the tribal clashes of 1992. We were forced to move to Kitale as Internal displaced persons (IDPs) where we had to start a new life.
Life was difficult after moving because my parents were not able to secure a permanent but they worked extra hard to pay our school fees.My school life was very challenging but I managed to complete primary and secondary level. I was not able to join college for lack of fees since my younger siblings were still in school.i started a small business of brushing shoes at the nearby shopping centre. The profits I acquired from this business enabled me to join a college whereby I was studying part time.I also helped my parents paying fees for my younger siblings from part of my profits.
In college I attained a diploma in electrical and electronics.I was later employed in a mobile shop to repair phones.
In 2011 I started my own phone repair and accessories business from the savings I made from my salary.
My hobbies are socializing, traveling, reading and listening to music.
My business is located at Railway line street in Kitale town,it deals with phone repair and phone accessories. This location is ideal because it is highly populated therefore this people are my target customers. With the necessary knowledge and skills in this field it gives me an upper hand to my competitors and through this i have increasing number of clients. There is a big demand in this products in town since Kenya is embracing technology and almost everyone owns one.I get not less than $400 every month and I use the profit to re-invest,pay rent, electricity bills and payings fees for my younger siblings.
My aim is to expand this business by opening branches in different parts of the town.Through this am sure my income will increase alot.
Thank you lenders and zidisha community for your previous loans which hae really enabled my business to grow to greater heights in terms of profits.Through zidisha loan i was able to introduce mobile phone sales and also introduced mobile money transfer services(MPESA).When given this loan i will invest more in the mobile money transfer business (MPESA) which is doing very well.I will also add more stock of mobile phones and mobile phone accessories especially batteries.
This will enable my profit margin to raise to 45-50% and with this i will be able to pay the zidisha loan, pay my monthly bills and also pay fees for my younger siblings.
