About Me

My names are Rose Mumbi Wagema born in the year 1984, in Nakuru county of Rift valley Province in Kenya. I went through my Primary education in Nakuru. After my KCSE in the year 2004 I worked partime in Nakuru at the then common telephone bureaus ‘Simu ya Jamii’ until year 2006 where I joined Egoji TTC and graduated with P1 Certificate in Primary education. I am seventh in a family of 8 and am married with two children aged 7 and 2 years. I have worked as a teacher in Rugongo Primary school and currently Centre Primary school.

My Business

Currently I operate a Grocery Shop at Weru Town which since September2013, I have been operating with help of my sister due to the fact that I got a teaching job (not employed by government) as a teacher at Centre Primary School and I have been working there since then. I was introduced to Zidisha by three family friends who are already beneficiaries of the same and developed interest out of the same. In a good day, the business makes sales of about Ksh 2000 where profit ranges between sh 300 – sh 500. In a good month then the total profit is approximately sh. 10 000 which helps me pay rent and family upkeep. I would therefore wish to borrow from you so that I can have additional stock in the grocery shop where I can assign my sister to handle variety of items.
With Zidisha loan, I will be able to obtain the groceries from Naivasha on Wednesdays and Saturdays and this will go long way to ensuring that am full of stock throughout the week. The weather around has drastically changed and there is no question about dry spell in the months of October, December, January onwards unless it just rains soon. This is a clear indication that food stuffs will be costly and I would wish to bring them near this place where they are not available. Its my wish that as time goes by I will able to obtain the produce cheaply where my parents are farmers and distribute the same to areas around Weru. At my home place, sometimes my parents sell tomatoes, cereals and kales at throw away price and would wish to take advantage of the low cost, however most of these products are perishable and my interest is on the cereals which are a bit durable. At the same times the weather condition for this place favours production of potatoes and peas, I will ensure that I do also deliver such commodities at my home place where its scarce. This may not be immediate because of high transport costs involved but its in the pipeline and will start small to see prospect of increasing the volume and probably hiring a car for the same.

Loan Proposal

With my second loan, i want to increase my stock in cereals. the business is so far doing well and since i am dealing with cereals which are not perishable, i have been able to penetrate the market. i want also to explore possibility of supplying the same in large scale so as to reduce the cost of operation. with increased stock, i will also look for customers who can buy in bulk e.g. nearby schools. This will done when tenders for the same are announced. i would also wish to expand the premises that i am currently operating on since i need a store to ensure continuous supply of the same.
