About Me
I am 23 years old. I come from nyeri district. I dropped out of school in form 2. I am an orphan and a single parent. My mum used to sell Irish potatoes at the market. By the time my mother died in 2017 I had started operating a salon. After her death my in uncles took everything from me and I started from scratch.
This business has enabled me to educate my child despite the challenges. My dream for the future is that I plan to build rental houses in order to get more income. I have done this business for 4 yrs, I used to braid from childhood. I have never gone for a salon course but I frequently attend seminars and workshops. I give excellent services to my clients because I do it on my own, so my work advertises itself.
My Business
I am a salon owner. I plait hair and sell cosmetics at nyeri town. I started my business 4 years ago.
The biggest challenges that I face is finances in that some of my competitors have expensive current machines which I don’t have and they are using expensive chemicals that I can’t afford.
My style is unique. That is what gives me a competitive edge. My customers are ladies and children. My goals for the business is that I plan to open a bigger spacious salon, employ more manpower and also open a school of hair dressing and beauty.
