About Me

I am a very enthusiastic entrepreneur with the desire to make the world a better place than I found it. I have been very keen to encourage other young men and women to take up business to better their lives than to sit and wait for government help or till they get jobs. There's a young man I have been training in my shop and i now intend to employ him full time to run one of them.
I have a wife and two young boys who I really adore and have set my goal to give them the best a father can give to his family.
I continue to express my sincere gratitude to the Zidisha team and to the lenders for enabling people like me make such a difference in our businesses. Indeed there has been a very big positive change in my family’s life in terms of general standard of living. My children have greatly improved academically because of attending a good school. My wife is about to complete her catering course and is really looking forward to putting up a cake and pastries shop once she completes at the end of this year.

My Business

From the moment I pumped more capital in my shop my customers responded very positively. The main reason for the big turnaround was the introduction of groceries. People used to walk long distance to visit the market in the town centre. With my shop offering the needed groceries so close home it was a real dream comes true. Once any customer stops for groceries it automatically follows that they also buy other house hold products like sugar, soap, oil, bread, milk etc.
My once dormant shop is now making a profit of US$ 100 a week which is about US $400 a month. I am saving 30% of it for my family’s future and another 30% for my business. We use the rest for our daily subsistence living.
My income has grown tremendously and I believe now is the right time to expand.

Loan Proposal

Kajiado County is largely a semi arid area. The problem is worsened by lack of piped water therefore its hard for families to even keep a small vegetable garden. Almost all vegetables eaten here come from outside the county. For this reason fresh vegetables and fruits are very precious.
When my shop is stocked with these vegetables the residents of the neighboring estates will flock there not only for them but also for other shop products therefore boosting my sales turnover.

Therefore I intend to use one third of the loan I will get i.e US$ 50 (Ksh 4,312) to purchase fruits and fresh vegetables to sell in my shop.
The breakdown is as follows

Product Quantity Cost per unit (Ksh) Amount(Ksh) Amount in USD

Kales and spinach 50 kg 20 1000 12

Unripe bananas 30 kg 15 450 5

Onions 20 kg 20 400 5

Total 4300 50

The remaining two thirds will be used to purchase cereals as follows

Product Quantity Cost per unit (Ksh) Amount (Ksh) Amount in USD

I have been forced to close one of my shops due to a dispute with the previous owner. The matter is currently in court and I hope will it will be resolved soon.
The shops were doing very well before the unfortunte matter came up. I was able to get my family (wife and children) health insurance and was in the process of insuring education for my youngest son who is 8 years old.

Once again my sincere gratitude to you JFais for funding my loan. approximately 2 months since the loan was disbursed to me, I have witnessed a dramatic transformation of my business. My shop has become a beehive of activity since i introduced groceries and is actually crying for more space to expand. Most times am forced to re-order stock upto 3 times a day because the sales are amazing. Needless to say my profit is at an all time high which has enabled me to comfortably meet my financial obligations to my family and save for an ambitious venture in the pipeline.
Attached are some photos of my shop

I take this opportunity to sincerely thank the lender (s) who funded my loan.
With the loan disbursed to me, I have been able to purchase stock of groceries for my shop. I managed to get all products i needed in the required quantities and at good prices from the farmers in the market.
The good news so far is that my clients are extremely happy with the groceries for it saves them from walking long distances in search of the products I have now stocked close to where they live.
Needless to say the sales have been extremely good and I have been able to restock most products after it was exhausted.
The groceries have also increased the traffic of people visiting my shop and needing other general shop products and indications so far are an increased sales turnover and therefore more profits.
This ultimately means my family are going to enjoy a better quality life as I grow my business to greater heights.
Once again my sincere gratitude to the lenders and all of Zidisha team.
    God bless you all.
