About Me

My name is Getrude Maureen Awuor. I had my education up to secondary level and thereafter trained as a beautician, a trade in which I worked for five years. Thereafter I moved to public transport service sector where I was employed as a customer service attendant for over ten years. I sustained a debilitating knee injury and had to leave public transport service employment as I could not stand on my feet for long. It was at this juncture that I ventured into catering service business in which I have now been doing over the last four and a half years.

I am single and have a daughter who has just completed her secondary school education and is now waiting for admission into university later this year. I adopted three orphaned girls last year and I have to work extra hard to provide for all of us through this catering business. It has therefore become crucial that I expand the business to provide income that can sustain the needs of the girls and myself.

My hobby is cooking and doing chores which people ignore most but are beneficial such as car washing....etc

My Business

My catering business is easy on me as I do not have to be on my feet for too long. I specialize in preparing fresh and healthy traditional Kenya vegetable dishes which I deliver on order to busy working families in Nairobi. The ready-to-eat vegetable dishes I deliver include traditional varieties such as managu, kunde, muchicha, terere, mrenda, beans, nyoyo or githeri, ndengu and traditional fish, omena. These vegetables dishes are on high demand because they are known for healthy living. I also do catering for parties.

I was driven into this particular line of catering business on realization that people love these traditional vegetables but have no time to make them and worse still don’t even know how to prepare them. The business opportunity was obvious but I have been restricted by capital requirements.

My pricing range from Kshs.200 – 250 depending on the size of delivery package container ordered by the client. My monthly revenue currently average Kshs.25,000 but I need to push this to around Kshs.50,000 per month given the increased home needs I have to cater for such as foods, clothing , education, house rent, medical and other essential home needs.

Loan Proposal

Want to increase my stocks and containers by at least 40% or more in order to meet the demand. Vegetables prices varies depending on the market day and containers costs me Kshs. 210 for 10 pieces and i need to add like 250pieces .
This will enable me meet my customers orders and supply them with no delay.
I expect my profit to increase by 30% to 50 % or more.
