About Me

My name is Darlington Chiiko aged 33. I have been running a grocery wholesale business (full-time) for the past two years. Before venturing in business I have worked with FMCG companies in Procurement, Warehousing, Sales and Information Technology. I am a Marketer by professional and a self-taught software programmer. My passion for business goes back to my childhood time when I was involved in managing family grocery businesses.

My Business

In 2014, I resigned from my full-time job to build on my passion of running a grocery business. I started Salebox Enterprises in 2016 with a goal to build a better shopping experience through a membership based wholesale club business. The retail industry is becoming more competitive every day with multi-national superstores and eCommerce companies expanding so quickly.

So far, we have been stocking 6 lines of products from two suppliers. The advantage with our business model is that we avoid middlemen and buy directly from manufacturers which makes it possible for us to compete with big stores. Furthermore, by offering delivery we are helping our customers save time and money.

Currently, I have a team of 3 employees and working from my apartment. We deliver groceries to members who are mainly formal employees and business owners. My goal is to build a global eCommerce store that offers low prices to consumers. With the support from Zidisha, I intend to increase inventory and expand our delivery service to more areas.

Loan Proposal

With this loan I intend to buy grocery inventory. In particular, milk and sugar which has been on demand and continue with my delivery business. From the time I started using Zidisha, I have experienced good growth since lack of capital has been one of the major challenges affecting me. Zidisha loans helped me meet customer demand. With this loan I intend to continue offering a wholesale membership business and ensure that I repay back in time and grow my capital base. I have also been working on an android app to help my customers order online easily and once I grow my capital, I can launch my business in other towns in a franchise business model that will create more opportunities for other people especially the youth and women. With thousands of young people in unemployment, I have no doubt that such an initiative can help and sustain their lives.

I appreciate your support and I look forward to your help again.

Thank you.
