I am Michael, an actor and director with great interest in theatre arts and short films. I started acting at aan early age and over the years I have really been transformed by drama and theatre in general.
For me, drama is an edutainment tool: it can both entertain and educate at the same time; and it is my belief that it should be used exactly like so. One without the other simply won't work especially in this current age and era where society is constantly bombarded with eye catchung media left, right and centre
Income comes from the revenue gotten when theatre items such as plays and monologues are staged. We charge a fee to the audjience who attend and also get some donations from our sponsors that goes a long way to help us cover our costs
We showcase plays and other forms of theatre productions and charge a fee for our audience to watch. We perform plays at Alliance Francaise, Kenya National Theatre and the Strathmore Auditorium
Our take on art is it is a form of expression that allows one to edutain: educate and entertain. We believe that theatre is a channel of transformation for this society that allows messages and lessons to be passed across in an entertaining manner that will also end up being more memorable.
The Kenyan theatre industry has been on the rise for quite some time. There has been an uptake of actors into the industry as more local content is sought out for. And that is where we come in. Together with other like minded individuals we have come up with entertaining material to portray different elements of society in a new and fresh manner like never before seen. We produce authentic and credible material, such that our audience will be able to relate to it should the same be recorded and played back to them several years from when we stage the shows
Our model is not complicated. As stated above we organize shows, charge our audience a few for the entertainment they shall be served on stage then settle all the expenses remaining with extra coins as profits. The plays are usually highly adapted to fit the Kenyan context or the context of the crowd we are performing to. The audience must feel they relate to what is happening on stage as in our opinion acting is simply just real life on stage.
