About Me

my names are mary wanjiru muhia am 29years old and live at githunguri utawala. i am a teacher
Am a single lady aged 29, I live in Githunguri Utawala. I have a certificate in Montessori (Early Childhood Education) a College in Umoja Nairobi. Currently am doing Diploma in Education. I completed my O-Level in year 2000 and after that I worked for a relative as a house help. She advised me to join hairdressing of which I did. In 2004 they assisted me and I did teaching course, because they saw I had a great care of little children at home by helping their children at home. This course took 1 year in the class full time and two years in the field of attachment. During attachment period I went to work with Nuns of daughters of St. Teresa in Uganda Hoima at St. Christopher Nursery school called Honey Tree from 2006-2008. During this time I could feel I want to start my own project of a school. God Helped me and the following year 2009, I started with 20,000. This included rent, furniture's, mattresses utensils and other school needs.

My Business

My business is not only a business but a call since childhood, I do it whole heartedly to assist people in our community as they assist me also. I depend with this workin all my personal needs example daily bread, house rent and also supporting my siblings through education and my parents upkeep in the village. I started this business in 2009 but the planning started in 2008.I started buying school items like sufuria,jiko,mattresses,chairs ,utensils and lince to operate the project
In November 2008 I got a house to rent and set it to be a school. Decorated painted and set it ready for a school. Parents started coming one by one to observe and they admired my settings as a kindergarten
In January 2009 the first day already five pupils reported and this uplifted my spirit high to work harder. The number continued to grow little by little by the end of the term I had a number which could pay my two teachers and the house rent. In second term the number increased to 30pupils and by the end of the year I had 50pupils.
During this first year as the children were paying fees that was 3000/= per term I could buy furnitures, utencils and office materials
Then i could manage to pay teachers and increase their salaries from 3000/= to 5000/= per month.The only problem i get is that other parents dont keep their promises of payment .So they end up running away with the accumulated school fees.In 2012 i managed to shift the school to abigger plot and enough toilets for the children.I also rented abigger field for the children to play in becaause the previous one was very small and parents complained alot about the safety of their children.
THis year i increase the class to stanard five and i have 68 pupils in the whole school.Ialso increased the number of teachers to six.the cook igot a trained cook as well as awatchman
Ihave eight workers in total excluding me i also work as a teacher oin baby class.
The monthly expenditures ranges from Kshs 40,000/= to Kshs 50,000/=this goes to house rent of 16,000/=,teachers salaries Kshs 25,000/=

Project Proposal

Dear zidisha, when i get fund , i will use it to buy the text books required at school for the new CBC curriculum, to enhance and better education to facilitate teachers project and through learning we will encourage the parent to order the similar books which we will be having them here at school and we will sell them T a profit and circulate to school for similar equipments needed. This will bring knowledge to our students and same time some profit. Thank for thebsupport
