About Me

My names are Mr John Mungai Ngethe, a well known dairy farmer in Kiptangwanyi shopping center. I live in plot number 849 with my family. I have five children who are all in institutions of learning. I am a dairy farmer in the area. I keep dairy cattle for milk which I sell to the Brookside company that collects milk from farmers in the area and takes it to Nakuru for processing. I have been in this business for twenty years. Initially farmers were selling their milk to businesses at the shopping center such as hotels and schools. This made the supply of milk to be very high but on the other hand the demand for milk was low. Brookside company based in Nakuru started collecting the milk from farmers and this provided ready market for the milk. This was a relief as I could now produce milk in great quantities without worrying where I will sell it. Milk used to go bad at those times because we did not have enough market for this product.

My Business

Dairy farming is a good business and nowadays the demand for milk in this area is high. About ten years ago it was very uneconomical to produce a lot of milk as the area to sell the product were limited and one had to control the amount of milk being produced in the farm in order to avoid it going into wastage. I am now a very hardworking farmer as the market is usually readily available. I have also kept dairy breeds that produce high levels of milk. I have three fresian cattle that give me an average 60kilograms of milk daily. These breeds require large amount of fodder and this has made me to subdivide my land in portions that i will be able to plant fodder crops. I also have dried hay that I usually use during the dry season. Napier grass is also a good fodder crop that keeps the cattle growing and it is also nutritious. When there is a surplus of the green matter, I usually make silage and it is very good for the cattle.

Loan Proposal

Thank you all lenders,
I wish to use this loan that I will get to do the following in order to improve my dairy business. 1. I would like to introduce a high breed in my farm. This will improve the quality milk as well as the quantity. More feed as well as high quality feed will be necessary and thus this loan will be of very great importance. 2. I wish to buy commercial feeds for the dairy cattle in my farm.
