About Me

My names are Anne Nyokabi Njoroge. I live in Kiptangwanyi shopping center which is in Elementaita division, Gilgil District and in Nakuru county. I was born in a small town of Njoro about 40kilometers from Nakuru, I am married with three children and living with them and my husband in our plot which is number 1063. We moved to Kiptangwanyi in the year 2000. This was the year which there was a very severe drought in the whole country but this area was affected more than other areas. with the hot sun and severe shortage of water, most businesses were affected and life became very unbearable. Starting a new business in this harsh conditions was almost a nightmare. I started a grocery shop in the year 2005. This did not pick on well because of the difficulty in getting the supplies from the market. I later added more stock in the year 2007 and now the business is well established.

My Business

Starting a business in this area especially that of my kind was not an easy task. This went along way being affected by droughts in the area. Most of my commodities in my grocery are things that are highly perishable and therefore when there is drought, the problem becomes doubled. I usually get my supplies from highly productive areas of Mau Narok and Narianta. Another problem associated with the business is transportation difficulties. These commodities require to reach the market fast but with the poor roads in this area, one has to be very careful and especially during the dry season. I have been in this business for now over seven years and this has given me a good experience in how to cope up with these challenges.

Loan Proposal

Thank you for such an opportunity. I would like to use this loan that I will be granted from Zidisha micro-finance to do the following. Firstly, I wish to be obtaining fresh products from the source for my customers. This will involve getting them from Mau and some parts of Nakuru. Customers prefer fresh commodities and secondly, I would like to make my stall more attractive by painting it new and making it more spacious.
