About Me

My name is Ngunjiri Daniel Ngunjiri. I am married and blessed with one beautiful daughter. My family and I live in Nairobi Kenya. I possess a college level of education; having acquired a Diploma in Applied Statistics from the Kenya Polytechnic (Today’s Technical University of Kenya).
Currently I operate a small business enterprise dealing with Graphic Design and Printing services, which has been my source of livelihood for the last 8 years. I’m also involved in integrated farming to supplement on my income.
I have a strong passion for poultry farming and I’m in the process of starting up my poultry project. I have just completed a poultry structure to house an initial stock of 300 local chickens; with a projection to increase this stock to 1000 in the next 12 months.
I am also a published writer with 1 book title to my name titled “FOOTSTEPS FOR VICTORIOUS LIVING”.

My Business

I am in the business of offering printing and graphic design services. This includes the design and printing of business cards, letterheads, flyers and brochures, newsletters, magazines banners and a lot more. The business is small scale but self sustaining.
In a bid to fill the gap for food security in Kenya, I’m diversifying into agribusiness with a focus on food production. My first key project is chicken rearing, with my focus geared on an improved local breed (Populary known as Kienyeji) developed by the Kenya Agriculture Research Institute which has higher yield, lower maintenance and greater resistance to diseases.
This project is also aimed at empowering the community around my farm since I’ll endeavour to encourage them to start up similar projects (though smaller) in a bid to enhance their own nutritional requirements as well as improve their income levels as well.

Loan Proposal

The chicks I bought with the previous loan are now 3 months of age. I need to put up a chicken run for them to have enough free space without intruding to other farms and for them to grow organically. I intend to buy 4 chainlink wires @4300 = 17200, 20 cedar posts of 9feet long @350 = 7000, Nails @1000, 4 days Labour @1000 = 4000

    Message for Beatrice Kariuki:
    Hi Beatrice,

You have missed all your payment schedules, havent made any repayment, no efforts and no communications from you at all.
How's your repayment reschedule going ?
Do you still have any efforts to repay or you'd like to run away ?
Hope to hear that you are fine and healthy.

Hi, I'm wondering what is the status of Daniel Muringithi? It lists you as his volunteer mentor. He has not paid any of his loan in a year and there has been no communication. Do you have any idea what happened to him?
    Thank you for the update.

I am raising my concern for arrears once again. I wish to clarify that I paid Kshs 3000 on 10th February at 12:09 as per the Mpesa confirmation message EP79PR473. My account hasn't reflected that yet and I continue to receive messages of default. Kindly note I have never been in arrears and will not be any day coz I honour my commitments. Help address this issue to finality

Dear lenders, I paid KES 3000 on 10th February as per schedule, I dont have an idea why it is not reflecting but following up with Zidisha.

It's good to follow up, Ngunjiiri. The volunteers are behind right now and the inputs are manual so human errors happen. They will be glad to find it for you.

Hi, Sorry for the reschedule. Got short notice of a delayed payment and will now be paid next week, I desire to retain the same installments. I had traveled to the farm when I got the short notice and didn't have adequate time to organize myself for alternative means to get money to repay the loan and I'd hate to get into arrears. I regret every inconvenience suffered.

    Hello Zidisha community,
I want to send my warmest appreciation to the community for extending to me my first loan. I want to let you know that I am grateful and have finished repaying it. I needed it to top up for a poultry project that I was starting up. The project kicked off and is progressing very well. They are now 3 months old and I'll start reaping the benefits within 2 months. To Marvin (Mewesten), this is your project as well, you've kept following it up like your own. Kudos Bro! Thanks alot to all the Zidisha fraternity!
    Regards

    Hallo Zidisha Family,
I am always obligated to drop a point or two every time I am online just to keep you posted on my developments. I borrowed from Zidisha to top up on a startup poultry project. I bought 300 day old chicks and they are doing very well, they are now in their 6th week and are growing tremendously. With this project, I can see total transformation not only in my life and that of my family but also the entire community around my farm.
Kudos to every lender in zidisha, you are transforming the lives of many!
    Regards

      Good morning Ngunjiri,
Very glad to hear that your project is on track. Always nice to hear from you.
All in the Zidisha community were saddened at the news of terrorism in Nairobi yesterday. My condolences to all who lost family and friends there.
It is an unsettled world with no end in sight. We can just do the best we can despite the violence.
      My best to you.

        Hi Marvin,
Yea, it is indeed very sad for our country and city at this time. Thank you so much for your message of condolence. We have lost so many lives while others have suffered critical injuries. We continue to pray that those still held hostage by the captors will get out alive. The rescue efforts continue in earnest and the forces are now in control of the building amid fierce gunfire but there is great progress. We are hoping the exercise will be completed in a short while.
        Thanks alot for the concern
        WE ARE ONE!
        Regards

On Friday 6th September, I vaccinated the chicks at 3 weeks for Newcastle disease. So far the project is going on well but confining me to longer hours in the farm away from the city. Had to come out today and fulfill my responsibilities as a Zidisha Volunteer Mentor of following up clients with arrears. They are just nice people facing challenges but ready and willing to meet their obligations. I empathise!

    Hi Zidisha Family,
Its yet another vaccination week for my chicks as they turn 3 weeks. This Friday August 6, I shall be administering the second round of vaccine. This time its vaccination against Newcastle disease which is very common in poultry and highly lethal. I will be away in the farm for this crucial exercise for the next few days. I will keep you posted as we walk this journey together.

Yesterday 30th August (After 2 weeks), I administered the first vaccination for the chicks . This is a protection against a disease called GUMBORO (Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD). It is a viral disease affecting young chicken and has high mortality. The virus targets an organ called the Bursa of Fabricius; which is important in helping the young chickens develop their immune system.

    Hi Zidisha family,
Sometimes I go missing in action from this page. I have a chicken project going on that was started with part financing by this lending community. The chicks (300 in number) were delivered to my farm on 16th August, prompting me to take a supervisory role at the farm during the initial stages of brooding. They are today 16 days old and have continued to grow well.
