I'm the second last born in a family of ten.I will later in the year graduate with a degree in public health from Moi University Eldoret.
The job situation in Kenya provoked me to engage in business and I'm always looking for opportunities wherever Iam.
My business does not interfere with my studies since I have established partnerships that ensure smooth flow even when I'm not physically present.
I buy maize ,the most important food crop in Kenya,from the production areas and transport it to more demand areas.
The loan awarded will help me increase my inventory to meet my orders with ease and to expand the business.
I buy maize from farmers around Eldoret town,send it to my younger brother in Limuru town ,from where he liases supply to a list of small scale traders I have contracts with.I buy the maize on weekends from farmers who are usually connected to me through collegemates who come from around the town.Eldoret is a major maize producing area ,and goverment red tape always ensures thre is a glut.The town is also near Uganda where maize is also cheap .
My business offers a market to farmers who do not want to sell to the goverment due to low prices and late payments.Limuru town on the other hand is a very cold area where maize do not do well.Its proximity to Nairobi ensures a high population and hence high demand.
My weekly typical expenses are;
-15 sacks of maize @ kes2000
-Transport kes 5000
-Storage kes 2000.
Total weekly cost kes 37000
Sales kes 2800*15
Monthly profit is kes5000*4
My brother is in another business but I give him a token of kes 5000 leaving me aprofit of kes 15000 monthly.
The risk factors in the venture are flactuating market prices and high transport costs.
My dream is to expand the business by getting better storage facilities and to get my own means of transport .The loan given would be a step towards its attainment.
The money will help me buy more maize.I usually get my orders to supply according to my capital.Increased capitalization would therefore increase my supply network.
My lenders would really be partners in my marathon towards bulk maize buying,storage and supply;and its thence inorder to thank them in advance.
