About my self
I am a Kenyan aged 29 years old. I am married to Mrs. Joy Makena and a father of two children called Jeshurun Boaz Mugambi and Faith Mukami. My wife does not work and she helps in the house chores like washing clothes, cooking and taking care of the children. I am a permanent resident of Githunguri- Utawala where I have managed to build a semi permanent house. I wholly depend with my business in providing basic needs like food, clothing’s and shelter and also providing education to my children. I finished my O level I in the year 2002 and got a grade of (C pain). I didn’t manage to further my education due to the financial strain my parents were undergoing as they tried to educate my siblings who were younger than me. Thus I moved to Nairobi to look for employment opportunity. Luckily I got a casual job by a LPG stockiest to distribute to customers within the Githunguri area for 2 years. I later realized it is a well paying business and therefore I decided to save so that in future I start my own. Luckily, I finally managed to save amount enough to start a small business of my own. I have operated the business for the last two years and so far it has been promising.

About my business
I am a stockiest of LPG gases. They are a variety from several companies like Total, Kobil and Wanjiko cooking gas. The business is located in Utawala- Githunguri stage. The location is ideal because it is along the main road where there is high traffic flow. My business is preferred because i offer free transport to each and every customer with a bicycle. This has enabled me to retain customers and also to be able to penetrate deep into the market area. It has enabled me to develop a cordial relationship with my customers. I also offer credit services to my trusted customers and this has also enabled me to retain them since the competition in the area is so high. However this doesn’t go without challenges, lack of enough LPG cylinders has been a big setback to me. This is the main reason why i want to borrow a loan from Zidisha so that I can add more LPG cylinders both the 6kgs and 13 kgs. I am also planning to buy a motorbike to help in fast and wide distribution of the cylinders. This business does not go without risk; theft is a challenge in Githunguri. To counter this we have joined hands with my business associate and we have employed two night guards to keep watch at night. Moreover, storage of LPG gases is a challenge; many landlords don’t like them to be stored in their premises due to fear of explosion. If my loan is successful, am planning to buy a container which I will isolate it from residential houses to minimize deaths and injury just in case an explosion occurs.
About my revenues my business generates total revenue of about Ksh 100,000.00. Costs include; Purchases cost Kshs 50,000.00, rent, Ksh. 6,000.00, electricity bills Khs 500.00, transport cost Ksh 20,000. After deducting all these expenses am left with only Kshs 23,500.00. This is what i use for paying rent, supporting my family in terms of clothing’s, food, shelter and education.

Loan Proposal

The loan will be used to add more LPG cylinders both the 6kgs and 13 kgs. I am also planning to buy a motorbike to help in fast and wide distribution of the cylinders. Am also planning to increase the varieties of gas suppliers to K-gas, Total and Wanjiko cooking gas. Moreover, storage of LPG gases is a challenge; many landlords don’t like them to be stored in their premises due to fear of explosion. If my loan is successful, am planning to buy a container which I will isolate it from residential houses to minimize deaths and injury just in case an explosion occurs.
