About Me

I Janet Juma was born in 1974 in Mombasa County.
Attended Magongo Primary School and later Joined Changamwe Secondary School. Did My O-Level and Attained grade C (plain). Went to Rifkins Business College, Docks, Mombasa in 1994 where i did typewriting and attained; Elementary- First Class and telephone and operation where i got a Distinction.
Worked with Kenya Brewery for two years as a secretary before the company was closed down. Got married in 1995 to an army soldier and moved to Gilgil where i currently live.
Am a mother of a Son and two Daughters. The Eldest (son) is in form 2 in a national school after exelling so well and appearing in the daily news paper with 416 marks. Am proud of him and want to give him all i can to prosper in his education; has too been a good student, does Aviation and aspires to be a pilot. That is why i want to expand my business, save enough for my lovely son: for I have always believed hi is a University Material.
Am a staunch and devoted christian Catholic and have served as a secretary for over six years in the church. Am also in the church executive committee, a member of development, financial, and liturgical committees. Since the Catholic church has been in the forefront promoting peace am a representative of CJPC(Catholic Justice and Peace Commissioner) in our parish. I commit myself on weekend when am not busy, visit our churches and remind them of the importance of peace loving our neighbors despite of the difference in tribe.
I love reading the bible and when not at work you will always find me in church

My Business

Mr husband who is an instructor by profession bought a personal computer to uses for his job at home . After seeing my interest in the computer we organized on how he would be teaching me every evening after work. Since I had done typewriting, I was able to catch up easily. We decided to buy an Epson printer and am doing very well in my business. I have set aside a section in my sitting room where my business operates. I receive lots of orders from our church since am the current secretary. I type All Church minutes for the church meetings, Group meetings and photocopy for them. I prepare church pamphlet(Sunday readings normally sold in most Catholic churches) which guarantees an income of Kshs.2,000/= every Sunday. I prepare certificates for all church groups whenever they have event, wedding invitation card, Contribution/Harambee cards. I also prepare booklets for the church seminars whenever they are held.
The total sales revenue per month is around Kshs.14,000/= to Kshs.16,000/=. Monthly operation cost come to around Kshs.6,000/= for printer ink and papers. Being that i operate from the house the business has no rent or electricity bill to pay This leaves me with a profit of about Kshs.8000/= to Kshs.10,000/=.
Being the church secretary the risk brought about by competition is minimal because I deal with the church and the priest directly hence securing all the tenders.
Since the business operates from the house am able to cab environmental risk.
In future I would wish to expand the business so as to capture more clients from outside; and not only dealing with the church by securing a premise and acquiring more machine if necessary.

    Dear lenders,
This is Analin Saturria McGregor, Communications Associate at Zidisha.
Janet has informed us that sadly, her sister is back at the hospital. She is experiencing severe pain on the arm she had broken in the accident where Janet's brother died last year. Janet and her sister are waiting to hear what the doctors have to say about the next step in treatment.
Trauma cases due to road accidents are very often among the top emergencies received by hospitals in developing countries. Specialized care, including doctors, surgical procedures and post-op care are not always available. Trauma treatment is often performed with rudimentary instruments that can lead to a less than desirable recovery that may involve lots of pain. Since her sister depends on her so much, Janet has spent a significant amount of time with her at the hospital and hasn't been at work much, which has delayed her loan repayments sightly. We will continue to keep you informed about Janet's sister's development as we know more. We hope she can get the care she needs and makes a full recovery.

    Hi.
I lost a brother in late April through a fatal road accident and a sister who depend on me broke he right leg and arm. She is in a hospital since then and she underwent two operations so far. It has been a great impact to me because i have not been able to run my business well henceforth making it hard for me to pay my loan in good time.
I therefore request to reschedule the loan so that i can start paying in September 7th if it will be possible. I have no ill motive or any bad intentions of not paying. In fact Zidisha has been a blessing to me because despite my misfortunes they have tolerated and have been patient on my late payments.
    God bless Zidisha abundantly.
