About Me

My names are John Ndegwa, 35 years old, male head of the family, with two sons in Nakuru county, Rift Valley province, Kenya.I completed my O-level studies and managed to do a short course of Entrepreneurship, after that I was employed in supermarket as a sales man for six years where got vast experience in marketing and after that my contact ended. Bearing in mind that getting another job was a challenge and I had a family to look after, I decided to start a grocery store with the money I had saved during the contract period. The business picked very well and with the earnings that I got from the business I managed to purchase three trays for keeping eggs in a safe manner and the rest of the amount I spent for the daily basic needs of my family.

My Business

My grocery store primarily, sells groceries such as milk, eggs, vegetables, fruits and special services such as take-out food. It is located at Bahati town which is strategically located.

The target populations are the residents of the surrounding town and passengers who stop to buy stuffs while going to upcountry and hence high demand for the products. The business is profitable as I have been selling the products for the last two years thereby building a close relationship with customers, in- addition to curtsey, cleanliness and understanding the customer needs, all those factors have made a repeat purchase for most of my customers and also attracting new customers.

The business faces various risks including buying products/stocks in small quantities, limited space to cater for the needs of my customers, lack of proper equipments for storage such as fridge to store milk and vegetable to prevent them from going bad for a short time, bearing in mind that most of the products are perishable. With assistance of a loan I will be able to buy a modernized fridge for storage of milk, vegetables, fruits and also extending the capacity of the business to accommodate for more customers. Monthly costs Kshs 56,000, Sale revenue Kshs 34,000,Net Profit Kshs 22,000

Loan Proposal

The Zidisha loan will be used to buy a modernized fridge for storage of milk, vegetables, fruits and also extending the capacity of the business to accommodate for more customers. The loan will also be used to increase the stock of the products that I sell, i.e milk, eggs, vegetables and fruits, and this enable the business to enjoy economies of scale hence I will be able to buy in low price and in return sell to my customers at relatively fair price. This will boost sales of my products hence increased profit of my business. Your kind assistance will be highly appreciated. Thank you!
