About Me

I am a Kenyan citizen living in Kericho county aged 26 years old happily married and blessed with one child. I am the last born in a family of five children and my husband comes also from Kericho County. My area of specialization is in the information technology. I have great interests in trying various business ideas, helping the needy in the society and like traveling to different places, listening to gospel music and surfing the internet most of the time especially reading more in the agricultural sector and internet marketing. Kericho County is associated with a lot of rain for doing good business in farming. So with this climatic condition favorable for farming I decided to venture into this area immediately after graduating from college. Since then I have been running this farming business with the little savings from employment as the IT instructor at Kericho Technical Institute. The family background where I’m coming from have been doing quite very well in the farming business because all my siblings have cleared secondary school education and all there school fees was paid through the farming business, this partly contributed to my interest in this enjoyable and profitable venture to which I gained skills and have attended many agricultural training. Currently I have a brother who is studying at University of Eldoret and I’m supporting my parents by paying of the school fees. The farming business is quite doing very well currently especially the planting of cereals like maize and beans for sale whereby the market is ready for the products, improved infrastructure facilities in the area and also good support services from the Ministry of Agriculture through constant training to farmers and offering best services through the use of certified seeds and subsidized fertilizers. I am looking forward to financial support from Zidisha lenders to plant more maize and beans in large scale. Thanks

My Business

Selling of cereals like dry maize and beans is the type of business that I'm running. For dry maize that will be sold at a cost of $40 per bag of 90 Kgs. So far I have 20 bags of dry maize that was harvested last year December in a one acre farm at home. For dry beans in our one acre, we managed to have 5 bags, one bag for the dry beans is normally sold at the market price of $50 per bag of 90 kgs. The duration for planting maize is normally six months until they are harvested and stored at the granary, for the beans is three months and they can be planted together with maize at the same time. So to keep in touch with the demand target for various institutions, hotels and hospitals, they is need to purchase 10 bags of maize and 2 bags of dry beans. Monthly demand for dry maize stand at a maximum of 6 bags which can generate monthly income of $2400 and for dry beans at 2 bags for which can generate $90 per month. The total monthly income is around $2490. Monthly overhead production through transportation cost, labor cost, storage cost and other expenditure at a total of $1200 per month. The expected gross profit per month is around $1290. Profits from the business will be re-invested and for paying schools fees. The dry maize and beans are always in demand to the nearest public schools, hotels, individuals and restaurants in the area. Due to this huge demand there is a need for me to increase the income through the purchase of more bags for maize and beans to keep in touch with the constant demand that is ever increasing on daily basis. So with this I have decided to humbly seek help from Zidisha lenders through their loans in order to purchase bags for maize and beans. I decided to venture into this business because there is big potential in the sector and can lead an improved living standard. Thanks

    Dear Vicky,

Thank you for the message and informing us of your situation.

We believe that regular on-time repayments, no matter how small, are important to preserving a relationship of trust with lenders and our community. For this reason, we do not offer the option to delay payments. Instead, we request that you temporarily reduce your installment to an amount you can afford to pay right now, and go ahead and make that small payment. You may then increase your installment again when you are able.

To reduce your installment amount, please log into your Zidisha account and click on "Adjust Installment Amount," and follow the instructions there.

Please let us know if you have any problems,
    The Zidisha Team
