My family is big.We are ten children. We were raised by parents who did farming. We have two acres of land and three dairy cows.My childhood revolved around farm work and school. As a child i was already busy with farm work and school.I enjoyed going to wash clothes at the river because i got time to play with friends.During holidays me and my sister went to sell traditional vegetables.I learnt how to measure vegetables for 20 bob,10 bob,50 bob etc.My sister taught me to measure carefully in order to make a profit. My mother had shown my sister.Selling vegetables was my first experience in business.i got experience to bargain things and buy in wholesale an so on.After school i did not perform so well but i told my parents to give me a house which used to be a PoshoMill i open a shop just within our home compound. They were very happy and agreed to give me some capital as a loan..I renovate the house and turned it into a shop.I went to the Wholesale supplier and we had an agreement on how i will take some shop stuff on down payment.Iam running the shop to date.
I have shop within our home compound.I sell all kinds of general stuff.Lotions, hair braids, sugar, sweets, bread, flour, tea leaves. There is no other shop for over 1 kilometer n enjoy doing business.I thought its good to be self employed instead of looking for a job and i did not have proffession.Since i had experience in selling in the market i liked it.My typical costs are Ksh 10,000 weekly and my weekly revenues is Ksh 2000/=.i have been saving because i want to go to wholesale business.I take of my parents because now they are very old.
I buy cooking oil and sugar in big bags of 25 kg then i break into small measures like 1/4,1/2,3/4 ,1 kg and so on.This is to reach different customers depending on how much they can afford.I have been borrowing one but now want to buy my own.The machine will cost $ 80.I will use the loan to do this and will put my savings also. This will be convenient for me and also its reliable.People like to see while you take measurements of what they want to buy and distrust something that is already measured and packed.
