About Me

My name is Albert kariwo, I was born in 1988 at kapenguria being the third born in a family of five. In my childhood I joined Tilak primary school in the year 1994 untill 2001 when I sat for my final primary education examination. The following year 2002 I joined Kangetuny secondary school. I studied in this school for four years until 2005 when I did my final secondary education exam. I performed well and I was admitted in kitale institute of science and agriculture for a diploma in agricultural sciences for three years graduating in 2009. From then I have been working in various government and private sectors in the same field. In 2012 I decide to quit employment and venture in commercial farming by then I was working in olkarou in Nyandarua County. I am married and blessed with two children.

My Business

My business is basically commercial farming. I started this business after quitting my employment when I realized I need to venture into business to make more money to improve my livelihood and that of my immediate family, something I could not have realized in employment. At a place known as Loliondo in olkarou I rented a 4 acres plot started by planting shot term crop to buildup my capital. I started by planting potatoes, peas, cabbages, onions etc, which normally takes three months to mature. With this kind of crops I was able to come up very first as olkrou is a very futile place hence very conducive with commercial farming. In my four acre plot I usually work with my wife to manage the business well. The proceeds that I realized, I was able to buy three milking cows in mid 2013 whose milk I sell to olkarou dairies everyday at farm gate price earning a good income. I was able to enter into sale agreement with the owner of the land and i have so far paid more than half of the total cost. After I am through, I am planning to start building a permanent house where I can live comfortably with my family. One of the major challenges that I am facing today is luck of money to purchase a modern cooler to preserve my milk from going into waste as milk is collected in morning only while I milk three times in a day. With zidisha platform I will overcome these challenges.

Loan Proposal

Thanks zidisha team for accepting as a member, i now stand a chance to improve my farming activities, for this loan i will buy fertilizers to plant more cabbages for sale. This i will do by increasing the number of acreage that i usually grow crops. by so doing, my profits will increase threefold hence improving my livelihood. i thank all my lenders as they contribute towards my success .
