About Me

My name is shepherd chisa. I live in chimwemwe. I am married and I have one child. I was born in a family of 5. My father and mother were farmers and they had a lot of cattle. My father named me shepherd, also known as kachema in our local language. So when you come to my neighbourhood you will find that they call me kachema. I liked working with my father from the time I was a small boy he taught me how to take care of animals and also how to grow a number of crops. About my education, I completed my grade 12 in 1998 and have not done any formal training due to financial challenges in my family. But that has not held me back. One day I will go back to school. My son is only 4 years old and when he grows up he wants to become a medical doctor. The land I live in is so fertile such that if one is serious you can do a lot of farming.

My Business

From the time I discovered that my parents could not take me for college training after completing my secondary education, i asked for some piece of land. I was given 5 hectares and at the moment i only utilise about one hectare. I grow different vegetables such as cabbages, green paper, cassava leaves, tomatoes, onions and many more. My costs normally are costs for seeds and sometimes i hire some young boys to sell the vegetables for me in my community, these boys move from house to house and they sell a lot so at the end of the day i pay them something. I usually make about 200 ZMW equivalent to $20 per week. so at the end of the month i make not less that $150. This money i save some for my son who is in nursery school then i use the rest for food and reinvestments. I chose this kind of business because i knew that vegetables are on demand, people need food and vegetables helps to make balanced diets.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders, Thank you for the loan I have just finished paying and now i am applying for loan amount $100 which i want to use to purchase insecticides for my vegetable farm. I own about 5 hectares of land and at the moment i utilise only about 1 hectare to grow vegetables which i sell at home and also from door to door. This business is good because vegatables are on high demand. i want to increase my produce by planting on a bigger land. At the end of the month i make a minimum profit of about $150 and I have already increased on seedling planting but there are army worms invading my farm. when i receive this loan i will buy inscticides to protect my plants for . With the loan I have just finished paying I have managed to plant on a bigger piece of land about 1.5 hectares. My profits will increase by 50%. I will be making more than $200 per month. This will benefit me a lot. I will save more money for my child’s education, pay rent without any challenges and i will also repay this loan without skipping any repayment. I promise to pay on time to my lenders. I thank you in advance.
