About Me

My name is nana bonsu. I am 22years old. I am studying marketing. I am a morning student so I go to campus in the morning by 8:00am and close by 1:00pm. I live in takoradi with my parents and two younger siblings. My mother is a trader and my father is a retired military officer. As the eldest child of the family I try my best to help my mother to provide for the family and also to pay for my fees and that of my younger siblings. One thing that helps me realize this dream to some extent is selling of noodles which is popularly known as “INDOMIE” in Ghana. I love cooking and trying out new recipes so preparing noodles is not any difficult thing for me to do.

My Business

I prepare and sell noodles at a bus station close to my house. The bus station is a busy one because a lot of vehicles pass there. People going to town and coming from town get to the bus station before getting to their destination. This makes the place very busy especially in the evenings when workers are coming back home. I have mounted a wooden shed close to the bus station. I have a kerosene stove, some utensils, disposable containers for packaging the food for my customers and some cutlery. A pack of noodles cost GH3.00 and I am able to sell 20 to 25 packs every evening between the hours of 6:00pm to 9:00pm. I am able to make between GH60.00 to GH75.00. I use GH40.00 to buy a box of noodles and vegetables for the following day. This leaves me with a profit between GH20.00 to GH35.00 every evening. In a week I make a total profit between GH120.00 to GH210.00. This money helps me to save towards a better business in terms of putting up a better structure, buying more utensils and to be able to employ another person to help me take care of the business when am not available. The profit I make also helps to cater for my family.

Loan Proposal

When I am given this loan from Zidisha, I will increase the number of boxes I buy from one box per every evening to two boxes. This will help me increase the number of packs I am able to sell from 25 to 50. This is because the demand for my noodles is high. This will also help to increase my profit from GH35.00 to GH70.00 every evening. It will also help me to put up a better looking and permanent structure.

    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am Zidisha Country Expansion Coordinator for Ghana. I have noticed that after repaying the first loan installments, Ms Bonsu has accumulated some arrears. I am trying to contact her and understand if she is experiencing some difficulties with her noodles business. So far I was unable to reach her, but I will keep on trying and share with you any update.

Ms Bonsu, please let us know how your business is going and how we can assist you in regards to your loan repayment. Remember that you can always contact Zidisha by sending an email at service@zidisha. org.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Roberta
