my name is lucy wanjiru chege. i am a kenyan citizen. i am a resident of mitimingi. i was born and brought up in kericho. i schooled and got married at kericho. i gave birth to three children stephen maina, ann njeri and elizabeth wanjiru. my husband later divorced me when elizabeth was in her pre unit school. i decided that that was not the end of life. i move from kericho to nyandarua where i started farming and rearing cows for milk. this has helped me since it has catered for my children's basic need and also their school fees in primary school, secondary and also colleges and universities. i thank God because all are now working. the later bought me a piece of land at mitimingi where i now live. they advice me to keep more cows and some sheep. i love my children so much and i thank God because of them
My Business
i started livestock keeping in the early 90s that is 1994. it has been a great source of income because it has catered for all my need. selling milk and expecting the money at every end month is just like being employed. this can be termed as self employment. feeding the cows well with the best fodder and enough water everyday enhances high milk production. also to ensure that the cow are free of pests and deseases. the business of livestock keeping is changeable as sometimes there is inadequate rainfall thus great struggle to get the fodder. sometimes the milk prices go down. this becomes discouraging. supported by zidisha i know i reach to the level of my desire in livestock keeping. its my prayer and hope that zidisha will alays support me. thanks in advance
