About Me

My names are Caroline Mumbi, I am a single mother, a mother of two. I live in Subukia. I own a Milk shop dealing with fresh milk and other milk products. I underwent the 8.4.4 education system in Kenya and upon completion of my KCSE I went to College and did purchasing and supplies course. I am a member of Visions Women group and also actively participate in our church activities as well as community activities. I interact well with others and like helping the need in whatever way that I can. Besides being a business person, I like reading inspiration materials. I am a focused lady with strong desire to succeed in life.

My Business

I have a milk shop called GLORY MALA AND MILK BAR where I sell both fresh, fermented milk and other milk products to customers around Subukia Town, Nakuru County.I buy milk from farmers in the neighbourhood who deliver the milk personally, I also have individuals whom I have contracted to deliver the milk to me from places that are far. The cost of buying the milk is much lower and most farmers prefer me because I pay them on weekly basis and others I pay the cash upon delivery. I also choose this business because I observed the market gap that was there because my main competitor is a nearby SUKA FARMERS SACCO which has not been efficient dealing with farmers. I am also strategically placed in a busy terminus with large inflow and outflow of people. I have been in this business for the last two years and have acquired enough experience on the market trends. With this business, I have been able to put through my kids in school and also taken care of my family needs. I do also cook snacks and sell them to county workers who are just nearby.

Loan Proposal

I am requesting for a loan from Zidisha to boost my milk business. I want to construct a café by partitioning my premises so that customers who want to eat can have their meals within my hotel, this will mean that I have a facelift of my business so that it appears comfortable and attractive. This will include outward appearance and this will be done through painting. And to the inside, I want to have a change in the layout and have furniture. This will include changing carpets and furniture. The cost of rebranding outside will cost around USD30, and to the inside finishing and simple furniture will be approximately USD 80. I understand that I might not be able to raise the total amount of money required for facelift but am ready to top up the remaining amount. With this I will attract more customers and thus to increase my sales which translates to more profits.
