About Me

My names are Magiry wanjiru kamau. I was born in 1968 at kiaragane in Kiranyaga County at the slopes of mount Kenya being the second born in a family of three. I joined kiaragane primary school for my basic education. By that time my tribe was not very keen in educating a girl child but I was lucky to have been taken to school by my parents. After my basic education I joined Njegas secondary school for my higher education and completed in 1985. After school I joined my parents in farming activities for a while until when I decided to be on my own. I relocated to the town of kabati in muranga and later relocated to Githurai 44 in the out skirts of Nairobi city. This is where I started self employment. I am a single mother of 4 children of whom I love so much.

My Business

My business is basically specialized in selling farm produce. I sell tomatoes, kales, green bananas, arrow roots, sweet potatoes, peas, French beans, etc I have been doing this business for over eight years. I started the business after I realized there was great demand for this products in such a great urban center where there are no farming activities at all, and I also needed more money to educate my children and also meet their basic needs. My business does well and it is from its income that I was able to bring up and educate all my four children to a form four level, today they are grow ups and working. I carry out my business on stall inside the Githurai market. I get my supplies from the farmers who usually bring their produce in Lorries from rural areas. I am able to buy this goods in wholesale price and retail them at a good profit margin. Some of the challenges my business faces is luck of enough capital to stock more fresh products to meet my ever increasing customers demand. I look forward to be a zidisha member.
